In a situation where maximum tolerance is being observed, a police officer proves that this can be done by keeping his cool.
This was evident in a video that is making rounds in Social Media showing a policeman who exercised grace under pressure despite being slapped by a woman outside a mall in Santiago City, Isabela. The police officer in the viral video was identified as Patrolman John Paul Sudario, assigned at the Traffic Enforcement Unit of the Santiago City Police Office. Sudario received positive feedbacks from citizens who lauded his composure in the face of being assaulted for no reason at all.
“This is how we build character in the PNP. Sudario is a real gentleman and a true officer in uniform. Accounts will prove that he did not even attempt to shout at the lady or inflict any harm despite being hurt. I’m not saying that we should not defend ourselves, but there is a more diplomatic way of doing it. He did it! He serves as a good example to the virtues that we live up for,” PNP Chief General Dionardo Carlos said while giving all praises for the officer’s exemplary action.
Despite being caught on cam, the PNP is still getting all sides of the story through an investigation that is being conducted. According to the mall management, the woman was asked to go out from a cell shop inside the mall for the alleged rude behavior she displayed. The security officers thought that she was already pacified when she went out with them. But to their surprise, she made a commotion again after being told that she was prohibited from going inside the mall. This prompted the security personnel to seek for police assistance.
That’s when Sudario came into the picture. He tried to calm the woman but he was assaulted instead. Sudario, for his part, has no plans of filing a case since he believes that it is part of his duty to be caught up in such situation.
“Patience can really exude one’s true character. And for being so understanding is taking it to a notch higher. It’s simply heroic,” Carlos said.
