The future that lies ahead for the children of the Matigsalug Tribe is now at hand following the inauguration of its first-ever IP Integrated School, a Quick Impact Project of Revitalized-Pulis sa Barangay.
The Matigsalug Tribe’s long-standing demand to have access to education and a school facility in their community has come to an end after the Revitalized-Pulis sa Barangay initiated and facilitated the construction and processing of pertinent documents in adherence to the Department of Education’s requirement for the establishment of a school.
After 2 decades of waiting for this moment to come, finally, this tribe will now have access to quality education as the IP Integrated School was built within their village. With the persistent effort of the Police Regional Office 11 Regional Director, PBGen Filmore B Escobal, the delivery of government services, including access to quality education, has been carried out.
The construction of the said school is part of the continuous effort of PRO 11 in support of the National Task Force to End the Local Armed Conflict with the help of its stakeholders, non-government organizations, especially Mr. Nelson Chua and Mrs. Jennifer Chua, who donated the said school.
The Matigsalug Tribe is known as the “Village of Ex-Reds”. It is where the largest group of rebels who surrendered themselves to the folds of the law in Marilog resides. They’ve embraced the government gradually, realizing the importance of education, especially for their children and for the new generations to come.
