Amidst the challenges caused by the occurrence of the covid-19 pandemic and the existing threats of terrorism in our country, the Revitalized-Pulis Sa Barangay (R-PSB) of Police Regional Office 11 continued to flourish by touching hundreds of lives, building hundreds of shelters, and helping local communities. The program continues to offer a more comprehensive form of policing; one of them is policing through community service.
It was November 10, 2021, when the Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo M. Año gave a directive to all police regional offices in the country to implement and replicate the existing R-PSB of PRO 11 right after the presentation of its concepts and principles done by its proponent Police Brigadier General Filmore Escobal, Regional Director, PRO11 at Camp Crame, Quezon City.
Two years after its successful launching in January 2020, the said project never failed to connect and serve the communities day by day particularly in all the Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAS) in Davao Region.
Among its tremendous accomplishments were the construction of barangay nursery at Purok 4, Barangay Sanghay, Mati City; Patubig & Pailaw sa Barangay program which paved the way for the successful construction of water supply systems, and electricity in far-flung barangays; the successful surrender of 37 Indigenous People who were former rebels in Brgy. Tamugan, Marilog District; hundreds of coconut seedlings were given assistance in Davao City; thousands of lumads and other indigenous people were assisted to acquire their birth certificate; the successful “Ngiting R-PSB” (Oplan Ngisi Para sa Kalinaw og Maayong Kaogmaon) project; the creation of Project Silong inTalaingod, Davao del Norte; the assistance of toilet bowls and other necessities for GIDAS areas.
Being the pioneer of the said program, Police Regional Office 11 proved to the entire country the enormous impact of this project to hasten the government’s efforts to end the Local Communist Armed Conflict. Through its comprehensive programs in hindering terrorist groups’ recruitment activities and in providing actual delivery of government services to people in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas, CTG doesn’t have a chance to maintain its stronghold.
Through the collective efforts of the brave men and women of the Philippine National Police together with the cooperation of the community and non-government organizations, with the support of the government, RPSB is bound for greater accomplishments. Creating innovative solutions to address local community problems, breaking socio-cultural boundaries towards understanding each other, and working hand in hand towards a more progressive and peaceful community.
