Bacolod City – Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) Director Police Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo pinned the Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting and gave financial support to Police Lieutenant Charles Richard Casalan at Bacolod Adventist Medical Center, Bacolod City on February 14, 2022.
Police Lieutenant Casalan, the Deputy Chief of Police led the seven-man team of Binalbagan Municipal Police Station when the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) detonated an anti-personnel mine at Sitio Candida Dos Barangay Bi-ao, Binalbagan, Negros Oriental while on their way to respond to a call for police assistance.
As a result, a firefight ensued and PLT Casalan sustained injuries together with Police Corporal Tranquillero.
The PRO6 leadership strongly denounces the deceitful and cowardly act of this local CTG. PBGen Dongbo said that: “They (NPA) have the intention to kill the police personnel who are lawfully performing their mandated duties. And they disturb the tranquility of the place and the whole community of Barangay Bi-ao by unleashing their evil and unlawful intentions. The PNP will conduct a thorough investigation on this incident, find evidence to support an airtight case that they will be filing and run after the terrorist group.” “This incident will not stop us in protecting the people of Binalbagan and of the entire Negros Occidental,” he added.
Likewise, the Governor of Negros Occidental, Eugenio “Bong” V Lacson together with Police Colonel Leo B Pamittan, Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office Acting Provincial Director also visited PLT Casalan on February 15, 2022.
Governor Lacson lauded the bravery and heroism of PLT Casalan and his team who showcased their strong will to fight when they were engaged in the said firefight with suspected members of the New People’s Army. In recognition of his strong commitment to serve and protect the peace-loving Negrenses, he was also given financial assistance from the Office of the Governor.
