The PNP as a law enforcement organization encompasses a multitude of facets of public service evident and aligned by its four core values: Makadiyos, Makatao, Makakalikasan, and Makabansa.
Being a member of the Philippine National Police (PNP) carries with it an inherent responsibility to serve the people, protect lives to lead in the forefront of nation-builders to ensure a better tomorrow for our posterity. And ensures security and environmental protection most specifically our ecological tourism destinations.
In recent years, the Philippines has experienced environmental degradation in the form of deforestation, soil erosion, over-exploitation of fisheries, and other natural resources.
The aforementioned issues can primarily be attributed to human intervention; hence, the presence of law enforcers is indispensable and important to ensure environmental preservation and protection.
In relation thereto, 27th PNP Chief Police General Dionardo B. Carlos mentioned at the Nation Builders and MOSLIV Awards 2022 by Sustainable Standards, Inc. (SSI) held at Grand Ballroom, Okada Manila in Parañaque City on March 19, 2022, various projects and policies in response to environmental laws as Pulis Makakalisan.
Among these initiatives, PGen Carlos pointed out the implementation of stricter enforcement of environmental laws; partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) by establishing environmental desks in every single police station nationwide; and organizing of Kaligkasan or “Kaligtasan at Kalikasan” volunteers partnering with stakeholders and community with the aim of engaging, organizing and mobilizing the community to address environmental issues at its grassroots.
Moreover, PGen Carlos was awarded the Honorary Public Servant of the Year Award; and Excellence in Government Service Award for his exemptional service as Chief, PNP. Likewise, the Most Sustainable and Liveable Community Awards (MOSLIV AWARDS) were bestowed for the Philippine National Police through the Chief, PNP.
Sustainable Standards, Inc. is a prestigious award-giving body that was launched in 2021 headed by Mr. Karl MacLean, chairman, and publisher of the Sustainable and Liveable book with the aim of promoting growth and development of a sustainable and smarter community in the country and other parts of the world during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Accolades and recognitions from these award-giving bodies affirm the effective and positive campaign of the organization in the community towards a greener and more sustainable community.
On the other hand, PGen Carlos assured the people that the Philippine National Police will continue to implement programs in protecting the environment which is in consonance with its core value, “makakalikasan.”
