The Philippine National Police joined other government agencies and volunteers from the Global Coalition of Advocacy Support Groups and Force Multipliers as the government’s nationwide program dubbed “Duterte Legacy Caravan” rolled simultaneously on May 1, 2022, at EDSA People Power Monument, Edsa, Quezon City, coinciding with the Labor Day Celebration.
PNP Chief PGen Dionardo Carlos graced the momentous event Themed: “Pagkakaisa ng Mamamayan at Pamahalaan Tungo sa Pagbangon, Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran”.
As early as 5:00 a.m., participating entities started a Fun Walk-Run-Bike for Peace, Unity, and SAFE NLE 2022 from different drop-off points and on signal converged at the Edsa Monument, a short program held.
“Ang buong Pambansang Pulisya ng Pilipinas ay nagbibigay pugay sa lahat ng mga dakila at minamahal nating manggagawang Pilipino. Bilang Ama ng Pambansang Pulisya, kami rin ay lubos na nagpapasalamat sa ating Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte sa kanyang mga makabuluhang adhikain at platapormang pang-kapayapaan, pang-ekonomiya, pang-medikal, at pang-lipunan para sa kapakanan at kabutihan ng bawat mamamayang Pilipino. This tireless pursuit of attaining a strongly rooted, comfortable and secure life for all Filipinos is well entrenched in the Updated Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017-2022 geared towards the AmBisyon Natin 2040 which articulates the Filipino people’s collective vision of a “Matatag, Maginhawa, at Panatag na Buhay para sa Lahat”, PGen Carlos said.
“And we assure our President, the Filipino people, and our beloved country that as part of the Duterte Legacy, we shall remain steadfast and committed in sustaining and enhancing his projects and programs in the campaign against illegal drugs, anti-criminality, violent extremism, lawlessness, terrorism, and Covid 19, among others. Makaka-asa rin ang ating mga kababayan na patuloy ang pagtulong ng PNP hindi lamang bilang mga tagabantay at tagapanatili ng kapayapaan at kaayusan sa komunidad kundi bilang isang organisasyon na tumutulong sa ating mga maralitang kababayan at vulnerable sectors ng ating komunidad, sa anumang oras at panahon”, PGen Carlos added.
Other participating agencies of the event also include the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Social Security System, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Agrarian Reform, PhilHealth, National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, Land Transportation Office, Technical Education, and Skills Development Authority, Department of Health and Department of Public Works and Highways, among others.
The Duterte Legacy Caravan aims to inform the public about the government’s programs, policies, accomplishments, and efforts to bring about real change in the lives of the Filipino people by showcasing real-life stories of beneficiaries of the administration’s landmark policies and programs with the ultimate goal of bringing justice and services right at the doorstep of every Filipinos that include the vulnerable sectors of the community.
