A face-to-face graduation was held for only fully vaccinated candidates for graduation, with a maximum of two of their family members allowed to witness after the March 2020 lockdown due to the pandemic.
A police officer, who is also a licensed nurse and a licensed professional teacher, was the Commencement Speaker of the 88th Commencement Exercises of the Bukidnon State University’s College of Nursing, with the Theme: Future-Proofing Education through Innovative and Ethical Leadership. This was held at Gymnasium of the Bukidnon State University’s Main Campus in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon on Friday, June 24, 2022.
Patrolman Elinand Cabañas Palacios, joined the Philippine National Police on February 1, 2017 and belongs to Class SIDLAKAS 2017-01 “Serbisyong may Integridad at Dangal na may Layuning Katapatan sa Sinumpaan”. He is currently assigned at the 2nd Bukidnon Provincial Mobile Force Company and designated as Assistant Police Community Affairs Division PNCO. He is an alumnus of the Bukidnon State University, College of Nursing Batch 2013, and a native from Purok 8, Lalawan, Linabo, Malaybalay City.
During his inspirational message, Pat Palacios stressed out to the 1, 409 nursing candidates for graduation and audience that “You may experience problems in your field of expertise or at work, but instead of wallowing in self-pity, focus on the positive benefits you can expect from the challenges… Be humble and respect your future patients, superiors and colleagues.”
This neophyte member of PNP shares the Three Pillars which he had acquired in shifting from the nursing profession to becoming a police officer. First, Self-Discipline- one must have a purpose and motivation to work hard, second, Vision-planning the future, with imagination and wisdom; and lastly, Commitment-there is no achievement without dedication.
