The joyous and vibrant celebration of the “Camp Fiesta” in Police Regional Office 11 is back after more than two years of waiting to hold the annual event to pay homage to its patron saint, Saint Peter- The Apostle.
It has been a tradition of PRO 11 to celebrate the feast of its patron saint annually but due to the pandemic brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic the celebration has to stop and after two years, the vigor and joy of the camp fiesta celebration was restored.
The celebration started with a procession followed by a Holy Mass officiated by Rev.Fr./Police Colonel Marlou Labares at St. Peter Chapel with this year’s theme “St. Peter the Apostle: Model of Faith Commitment to Christian Life” reflecting the exemplary example of every PRO 11 personnel who continues to fulfill their duty as a law enforcer and above all its commitment to the Christian life anchored in a core value of PNP being “Maka-Diyos” (godly).
The usual merriments the fiesta entails like the “Palarong Pinoy” and parlor games were conducted and the booths of the different offices were showcased along with their different food preparations and decorations.
Davao Occidental Police Provincial Office won the booth contest followed by Davao City Police Office and Davao Sur Police Provincial Office.
A several sporting events like Badminton, Volleyball, and Basketball was done a day ahead of the fiesta and the winners of each game were announced during the D-day last June 29, 2022 at Camp Sgt. Quintin M Merecido, Parade Ground.
For Badminton Mixed, Davao del Sur Police Provincial Office and Davao Occidental PPO outscored each competitor and was announced as the champion followed by Davao City Police Office and Davao del Norte PPO while the Regional Headquarters and Regional Mobile Force Battalion end the game as 2nd Runner-up.
Davao del Sur Police Provincial Office and Davao Occidental PPO still lead the female category followed by Davao City Police Office and Davao del Norte PPO and Regional Headquarters and Regional Mobile Force Battalion respectively.
In the same game (Male Category) Davao del Sur Police Provincial Office and Davao Occidental PPO still prevailed while Davao City Police Office and Davao del Norte PPO and Regional Headquarters and Regional Mobile Force Battalion still have the same standing in other categories.
In both category (Male and Female) in Volleyball, Team Davao City Police Office and Davao del Norte PPO was announced as Team champion followed by Davao Oriental PPO and Davao de Oro PPO while Davao del Sur PPO and Davao Occidental PPO ended as 2nd runner-up.
Meanwhile, RHQ and RMFB Team recovered in basketball where they were the champion followed by Davao City Police Office and Davao del Norte PPO and Davao Occidental and Davao del Sur PPO ends with 2nd place.
The whole day festivities culminated with a Search for the first-ever Binibini at Ginoong Pulis 2022 which highlighted the activity wherein Patrolwoman Prize B Francisco of Regional Headquarters (RHQ) and Police Lieutenant John Kenneth Florentino of Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) 11 won the title.
In his message, Police Brigadier General Benjamin H Silo, Jr, Regional Director, PRO 11 thanked everyone for the active participation and support to the Patronal Fiesta of PRO 11 which was not celebrated for the past 2 years due to the onset of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Hence, the celebration this year was made a little special and packed with various activities and events to enable the PRO 11 staff to take a short break while they took part in the many competitions and sporting events.
