On September 2, 2022, the Philippine National Police received funds from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), amounting to over Php11 million allotted for the procurement of medical supplies and equipment of the Health Service
PNP Chief, Police General Rodolfo S Azurin Jr. personally received the checks handed by PCSO Chairperson Junie Cua and General Manager Melquiades Robles at the PNP National Headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
“Today’s turnover of donations marks another milestone for the PNP in providing the needs and welfare of our personnel, especially on health care services. This donation will certainly go a long way in enhancing police capability,” Azurin said.
Melquiades Robles, PCSO General Manager, said, the check amounting to Php11,149,559.87 represents the PNP’s share from the gross proceeds of PCSO operations of the Small-Town Lottery (STL).
He explained that 30 percent of its revenue goes to charity, 55 percent for prizes, and 15 percent for its operations. All balances of any funds in the PCSO will form part of the charity fund.
“This amount will be used for upgrading the equipment of the PNP Health Service to enhance the quality of healthcare services to its personnel and dependents,” Azurin added.
The Philippine National Police continues to forge effective partnerships, alliances and collaborations with other government agencies, Local Government Units (LGUs) and private organizations, relative to the PNP’s efficiency and effectiveness in the performance of its sworn duties and responsibilities.
