
The 13 members of the Philippine National Police Athletics Team who showed the finest sports performance in international athletics after winning a total of 19 medals at the recently concluded 2022 Philippine Masters International Athletics Championships from November 11 to 12, 2022 at the Philsports Complex in Pasig City was congratulated by no less than Chief PNP, General Rodolfo S. Azurin, Jr.
The PNP team was headed by Police Colonel Marlou Roy Alzate garnering a total of eight golds, two silvers and nine bronze medals. The members of the PNP Athletics Team who won medals in different categories were: Police Executive Master Sergeant Aguila Virgilio, Police Master Sergeant Michael Pelaez, Police Master Sergeant Aaron Jayxen C Banatao, PMSg Bryan Uyarenza, Police Staff Sergeant Edward Dayo, PSSg Nathaniel Moral, PSSg Esguierdo Melquiades, and PSSg Rodel Bustamante.
Other members of the team were Police Lieutenant Rodien Hormigas, PSSg Rodel Bustamante, PSSg Joselito Dugos, and Police Chief Master Sergeant Victor Ayohan Jr.
The said tournament was organized by the National Masters and Senior Athletics Association of the Philippines. The competition has also drawn foreign entries coming from the United States of America, Italy, Indonesia, India, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and Sri Lanka.
“Congratulations to our PNP Athletics Team for another winning moment and for always making the entire police force proud. I know that you did your best to win, however, there is more to sports than winning. It is more of building relationship, fostering teamwork and value enhancement of participating personnel while engaging with other international athletes and promoting sportsmanship”, General Azurin said.
