Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Police General Rodolfo S Azurin Jr led in the inauguration of the newly built function hall of the PNP Highway Patrol Group (HPG) at the HPG Headquarters on January 24, 2023 in Camp BGen Rafael T Crame in Quezon City.
PGen Azurin also took a tour of the training classrooms, covered parking area, and the proposed driving area.
“These new facilities are tangible representation of your commitment to further improve your premises to cater to the needs of HPG personnel. Your group plays a vital role in ensuring the safety of all road users, and it is important that you have the necessary resources and facilities to carry out your mandate and duties effectively”, PGen Azurin said in his message during the ceremony.
The function hall will serve as a venue for trainings, meetings, and other activities of the Group, while the training classrooms and the proposed driving area will provide the necessary space to train our personnel in the latest techniques and skills in patrolling and traffic management.
The covered parking area will not only provide shade for HPG vehicles, but it will also protect them from weather elements, thus extending the vehicles’ service life.
PGen Azurin extended his deepest appreciation to those who were involved in the planning, design and construction of these facilities.
He also commended the efforts of Police Brigadier General Clifford B Gairanod, Director of PNP HPG, for his role in the success of HPG. He acknowledged that under PBGen Gairanod’s leadership, HPG has made significant progress in ensuring peace and order on the highways.
“The notable accomplishments of your Group in the areas of anti-carnapping, highway robbery, and hijacking this past year exemplifies perseverance, commitment, and competency of all “guardians of the highways” PNP Chief Azurin stated.
“I hope that this physical development will serve as a reminder of the important work that HPG does and as a symbol of the PNP’s commitment to the safety and security of our nation’s highways”, PGen Azurin added.
