
Going the extra mile in all its efforts is a common practice in the Philippine National Police (PNP). Throughout the years, the organization never fails to maximize its personnel and resources to persistently deliver a timely, relevant, inclusive and outstanding police service. The PNP organization today is a product of years of reformation, coupled with a strong formidable commitment to face head-on formidable challenges. The gallant leaders and men of PNP resolve to make a great difference.
Among the significant developments that PNP can offer is through its modernization program. PNP has been simultaneously building infrastructure projects nationwide to boost the organization’s capabilities in responding and catering to the needs of the public in relation to its mandate, being the nation’s peacekeeper.
On January 12, 2023, a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Php3.5 million worth PNP Community Police Assistance Center (COMPAC) took place in the Municipality of Pugo in La Union. The event was attended by no less than the PNP Chief himself, General Rodolfo Santos Azurin, Jr., together with Police Major General Jesus Cambay Jr, Director of the Directorate for Comptrollership; Police Brigadier General John C Chua, Regional Director, Police Regional Office 1; other members of the PRO 1 Command Group; Provincial Directors; and other key officers of PRO 1.
The said 2-storey building has a 160 sqm floor area to be constructed within a 200 sqm lot area in Barangay Cuenca of the said town. The Local Government Unit of the Municipality of Pugo donated the said lot, while the construction cost will be coming from the PNP funds.
Mayor Kurt Martin, the Municipal Mayor of Pugo, made sure not to miss the ceremony as he joined and gave his warm support to the PNP Chief and other local officials in the construction site.
PGen Azurin repeatedly thanked the local government of Pugo, La Union for their untiring support and commitment to the Philippine National Police, as well as its programs and activities.
“The presence of this PAC will serve as an accessible and ready police force that will respond to incidents, not only those affecting the constituents of Pugo but for everyone who will come to visit this busy town, it being an alternate route to the City of Baguio,” said PGen Azurin.
PNP builds Community Police Assistance Centers (PACs) across the country to serve as PNP Satellite Stations which are commonly erected in strategic areas, such as in entry and exit points in every locality. The PACs primary objective is to provide accessible and visible appropriate venues and offices wherein the public can seek quick and immediate action or response for any emergency situation.
It also became an efficient tool for the Philippine National Police towards ensuring public safety, the maintenance of peace and order, as well as a deterrent to the commission of crimes.
