
“Patuloy na Serbisyo Publiko, Handog ng Pambansang Kapulisan”
This year, the Philippine National Police (PNP) marks its 32years of service as the country’s police force, national in scope and civilian character mandated to serve and protect the people under Republic Act No. 6975 or “An Act Establishing the Philippine National Police under a Reorganized Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).”
Also, through this act, the establishment of PNP took effect on January 1, 1991, and became operational on January 29, 1991 in effect merging the Philippine Constabulary and the Integrated National Police.
As a tribute to the relentless service of all its members, including the active, retired, and those who have sacrificed their lives, PNP led by its Chief, Police General Rodolfo S Azurin Jr., celebrated the 32nd PNP Founding Anniversary in the National Headquarters in Camp BGen Rafael T Crame, Quezon City coinciding with the Traditional Monday Flag Raising Ceremony on January 30, 2023.
Honorable Dan S. Fernandez, Representative of the Lone District of Santa Rosa, and Chairperson of the House Committee on Public Order and Safety, graced the event where he highlighted proposed legislations for the benefit of the members of PNP, such as Free Legal Assistance, additional funds for the campaign against insurgency, strengthening the Recruitment, Selection and Appointment Process of the uniformed personnel, Permanent Disability Benefits of PNP members, and Grant of Purchase Discounts for active PNP personnel.
During the welcome message of General Azurin, Jr., he thanked the President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., the members of the Senate and Congress; and other State Legislators, in supporting the welfare and morale of the PNP members in order for them to truly make good fulfill their duty and responsibility in keeping the peace and order in the community. He also recognized the generosity of the stakeholders from the private sectors and the Local Government Units, for their allegiance to country and fellowmen through the pursuit of the peace and security framework, the M+K+K=K or the “Malasakit, Kaayusan, Kapayapaan tungo sa Kaunlaran,” and the KASIMBAYANAN (Kapulisan, Simbahan, at Pamayanan) program.
He recognized and lauded all the PNP members who have doubled their efforts in the fight against all forms of criminality, including the conduct of disaster and relief operations.
To deeply give significance to the event, 17 PNP active personnel were given distinctions for their exemplary dedication and contributions in achieving the mission and vision of the organization.
This year’s theme: “Patuloy na Serbisyo Publiko, Handog ng Pambansang Kapulisan na may Malasakit, Kaayusan, at Kapayaan Tungo sa Kaunlaran ng Ating Bayan,” underscores the continuous selfless service of all the PNP personnel for country and the Filipino people.
General Azurin Jr. encourages all the members of PNP to be relentless in striving for excellence and in upholding the highest standard called for in the Philippine National Police. “I trust that with your dedication, professionalism, and commitment, PNP would truly bring peace, stability and prosperity to our nation,” he added.
Before the program concluded, a Wreath-Laying Ceremony at the Bantayog ng mga Bayaning Tagapamayapa infront of NHQ was held, together with Mrs. Aileen B. Ogano, wife of Gallant Hero, Police Corporal Noel Ogano of the Quezon City Police District.
