“This is an opportune time to reiterate my call to all the members of PNP: Serbisyong Nagkakaisa. By working together and harnessing the power of collaborative efforts, we can establish a formidable police presence and foster genuine engagement with our communities.”
The Chief, Philippine National Police (PNP), Police General Benjamin Casuga Acorda, Jr. underscored the importance of collaboration and unity in the performance of public service during the celebration of the Police Security and Protection Group’s (PSPG) 32nd anniversary on May 10, 2023, held at the PNP Multi-Purpose Center in Camp BGen Rafael T. Crame, Quezon City.
This year’s theme of PSPG’s anniversary, “Serbisyong Nagkakaisa: Ang Pangkaligtasang Pananggalang Hatid ay Malasakit, Ugnayan, at Kapayapaan para sa Kaunlaran,” emphasized the unit’s dedication to public safety and security via service, compassion, unity, and peace-building.
PSPG, currently led by Police Brigadier General Antonio C. Yarra, is a specialized unit of PNP mandated to provide security and protection to high-risk individuals and locations in the Philippines.
The PNP’s safety and security provider was established in 1991, with the purpose of providing a comprehensive and integrated approach to security and protection, focusing on preventive measures and intelligence gathering to ensure the safety of their clients. The unit is composed of highly trained personnel equipped with the necessary skills and equipment to provide close protection, secure transportation, and site security.
The Group’s clients include government officials, foreign dignitaries, celebrities, and other individuals who are deemed to be at risk of imminent threat. The unit also provides security to vital installations, such as power plants, ports, and airports, among others.
In summation, PSPG plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of the nation and its people, particularly those who are in high-risk situations.
Meanwhile, the event’s high point was the honoring of deserving individuals, such as the former PSPG Director and current Presidential Adviser on Police and Military Affairs, Secretary Roman Felix.
The attendance by foreign stakeholders of PSPG and other private stakeholders, as well as high-ranking officials from PNP, reflected the PSPG’s ongoing efforts to create relationships and build bridges across borders.
With PGen Acorda rallying the ranks of PNP in giving our fellow Filipinos the services they deserve while steering towards the direction of a “Serbisyong Nagkakaisa”, the crucial performance of the role of everyone in this premiere law enforcement organization, whether big or small, will guarantee greater trust and confidence from Filipinos.
“The challenges we face as an institution may be multifaceted, but I have no doubt that together, we can overcome them. By working together, we can, indeed, make a difference in the lives of our fellow Filipinos and make our communities safer and more secure,” PNP Chief Acorda avowed.
