
The effective delivery of outstanding public service would not be possible without the necessary tools and equipment needed to perform such duty. Thus, the Philippine National Police in collaboration with its different stakeholders has been relentless in its efforts in providing all the logistical supports and engineering services to all its units in all police regional offices to ensure the organization’s effectiveness and efficiency in performing its mandate.
Among those in the priorities of the PNP organization is the modernization of its respective police stations in the archipelago. Police stations as concrete structures, serve important roles in the administration of law enforcement in the grassroots. Aside from being a regular office and working station for every local PNP personnel, the police station also functions as the frontline office for various government services as it caters to the public, not just for their complaints, but also for other issues and concerns relative to public safety and security as well as in the attainment of peace and order. It also houses the detainees and other arrested individuals who are waiting for proper dispositions.
On top of that, police stations also serve as the safe havens and a stable fortresses for all police officers, as well as the people in the community. Upgrading their physical structures into something modern provided with substantial and well-equipped materials needed in the maintenance of peace and order, and in battling all forms of criminality to allow PNP to foster significant trust within and among the communities. As this will not only suggest progress and development within the area of responsibility, it also entails public safety and utmost stability, from which PNP’s mission and vision originates.
On April 18, 2023, the Philippine National Police inaugurated its first third quarter of the millennial model prototype police station in Barangay Laya West in Tabuk City, Kalinga. With an actual cost of Php83-million pesos, the state-of-the-art police station is considered to be the first among its kind. The said building will be the new home of the men and women of Tabuk City Police Station.
The said prototype is a 4-storey building made of structural steel. It has detention cells and a roof deck for the unit’s activities. Appended to it is separate small building at the back which serves as the barracks and mess hall for its personnel.
The construction of the new police station became the realization of the visions and aspirations of the Philippine National Police and the Public Safety Savings and Loan Association Inc. for a world class police station in all far-flung cities and municipalities of the country, to better serve the people, and to inspire and motivate every PNP personnel to give their best service to ensure and the maintenance of peace and order.
PSSLAI solely funded the construction, following the signing of Memorandum of Agreement with PNP on October 24, 2022. The newly inaugurated building stands in a 2,000-square meter lot donated by the Tabuk City government.
Present in the said inauguration were PSSLAI Chairman Atty. Lucas Managuelod, Congressman Allen Jessie Mangaoang, Gov. James Edduba, Mayor Darwin Estrañero, PRO-Cordillera Director Police Brigadier General David Peredo Jr., and other officials of the City of Tabuk and the Kalinga province.
This new Tabuk City Police Station is a living proof of the unwavering commitment of the Philippine National Police, in cooperation with its stakeholders, in the performance of its mandate, specifically in protecting and securing our communities by continuously levelling-up and upgrading its facilities and equipment to better serve and protect the Filipino people.
