PNP to Prioritize Child Protection, Cybercrime Training and Election Security
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. presided over a command conference attended by top officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on December 12, 2024, at the PNP Multi-Purpose Center in Camp Crame, to provide strategic guidance on key law enforcement and public safety initiatives.
During the Conference, he had highlighted the need for PNP to remain proactive and vigilant in addressing emerging challenges. Among the key points discussed was the urgency to strengthen cybercrime prevention through advanced training for police personnel. Recognizing the growing threat in the digital landscape, the President had underscored the importance of equipping PNP with the necessary skills and tools to combat cybercrime effectively.
The President had also stressed that no crime is worse than the exploitation of children, urging the police force to intensify efforts in protecting the children and the youth from all forms of abuse and exploitation. This aligns with his administration’s commitment to safeguarding vulnerable sectors of society.
As the holiday season approaches, he had directed PNP to ensure peace and order, with particular focus on the safety of travelers, minimizing traffic congestion, and facilitating smooth public activities. He had emphasized the need to maintain heightened vigilance during this busy period.
Looking ahead to the 2025 National and Local Elections, the President had instructed PNP to intensify its campaign against illegal firearms and dismantle private armed groups. He underscored the importance of creating a secure and peaceful environment to uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
On the matter of illegal drugs, President Marcos had called for sustained coordination with other government agencies to enhance the effectiveness of anti-drug operations. He had reiterated the need for a comprehensive and united approach to address this persistent issue.
PNP Chief Marbil had assured the President of the police force’s dedication to fulfilling his directives. “The entire Philippine National Police stands united in its mission to serve and protect the Filipino people. We assure President Marcos of our full support as we implement these priorities to strengthen peace and security across the nation,” he said.
The Command Conference underscores the PNP’s commitment to upholding its mandate and aligning its operations with the priorities set by the national leadership, contributing to the vision of a Bagong Pilipinas.
Before the Conference, the 2nd Joint National Peace and Order Council (NPOC) and Regional Peace and Order Councils (RPOCs) had also convened at the same venue. The twin events, led by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Juanito Victor Remulla, which had also been graced by President Marcos, together with NPOC and RPOCs leaders, DILG Regional Directors, key officials, and Secretariat members had discussed initiatives focused on strengthening national peace and security.
