The 29th Police Community Relations Month Kick-off: “Ligtas Ka Sa Bagong Pilipinas”

The Philippine National Police (PNP) proudly launched the 29th Police Community Relations (PCR) Month embodying the theme “Ligtas Ka Sa Bagong Pilipinas.” Presidential Proclamation No. 764 signed on January 24, 2005, declared July of every year as the PCR Month. This year’s celebration was inaugurated during the traditional Monday Flag Raising Ceremony held at the PNP National Headquarters, Camp BGen Rafael T Crame in Quezon City. The theme aligns with the government’s Bagong Pilipinas campaign, reflecting the unit’s unwavering support for this initiative.

This annual celebration aims to foster closer interaction between the police and the community in addressing peace and order concerns. Over the years, the PCR Month has become a cornerstone in developing robust police-community relations, enhancing public safety, and promoting collaborative crime prevention efforts.

PLtGen Emmanuel B. Peralta, the Acting Deputy Chief PNP for Administration, delivered the message of Chief PNP, PGen Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, officially opening the 29th PCR Month on the first day of July 2024.

In his address, Police General Marbil expressed great pride and honor in kicking off this significant month-long celebration. He emphasized the importance of the theme “Ligtas Ka sa Bagong Pilipinas” which reflects the PNP’s commitment to ensure the safety and security of every Filipino amidst new challenges and opportunities.

“In this Bagong Pilipinas, we are reminded that progress and development are only possible when peace and order prevail,” PGen Marbil remarked. “This theme serves as an inspiration, guiding us to work together in building a nation where every individual can live without fear and in harmony with one another.”

The PCR Month celebration aims to enhance community participation in crime prevention and establish stronger partnerships in peacekeeping. The positive impact of these collaborative efforts is evident as communities become more vigilant, supportive, and engaged in the shared mission of public safety. Neighborhoods have been transformed by the collective actions of the police force and the public, with the stakeholders addressing the root causes of crime and ensuring the safety of every citizen.

Police General Marbil highlighted the essence of police-community relations, which is characterized by mutual trust, respect, and cooperation. “Our police force is not just an institution tasked with enforcing the law; it is an integral part of the community it serves,” he stated. “To our police officers, I urge you to continue your dedicated service with integrity, compassion, and respect for human rights. To our community members, I encourage you to actively participate in our initiatives, provide valuable feedback, and be our staunch partners in crime prevention and public safety.”

As PNP embarks on this month-long celebration, the vision of a new Philippines, where every citizen can say, “Ligtas Ka sa Bagong Pilipinas,” remains at the forefront. As the celebrations commence, PNP invites all community members to join hands in making this year’s PCR Month a resounding success, fostering a safer, more secure, and progressive Philippines.
