A Not-So-Common Community Outreach Program
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” This is one of the powerful eight beatitudes which tells us that those who are empty and starving are fortunate because they will be showered with blessings from heaven. God, the Lord, assures us that we will receive delightful consecrations beyond any that we have encountered on earth.
As a reflection of this beatitude, PNP PCADG accredited Non-Government Organization, the Sangguniang Masang Pilipino International Incorporated (SMPII), under the leadership of SAO2 Ibrahim Robel Beltran, Vice Chairman for Administration, in association with the Regional Police Community Affairs and Development Unit (RPCADU)-11 led by PCMS James C Auditor, Chief Clerk, had conducted a successful Community Outreach Program held at Co Su Gian Home for the Aged and Residential Crisis Facility, Crisis Intervention Program Center, Balay Dangupan at Lower Cabantian in Davao City on December 8, 2024.
A total of 57 elderly and 53 women, who were mostly victims of Violations Against Women and Children (VAWC), were among the listed beneficiaries in the gift-giving activity. Besides this, the team had serenaded the beneficiaries by performing acoustic songs rendered by the RPCADU-11 Acoustic Harmony Team members. As observed, the elderly and the women had enjoyed the once-in-a-blue moon pleasure of being visited by outsiders, who did not only bring them entertainment but also had created a spark of hope amidst their struggles, pain and sadness, explicitly manifesting that they are not forgotten and that compassion and kindness still exist in the world around them.
The day was filled with laughter and joy like there was no tomorrow as the team from RPCADU-11 and SMPII distributed foodstuffs. The recipients savored the delicacies prepared by the members of SMPII. The foods given did not just nourish them but relieved them from their longtime lonesomeness and sadness. Each smile represented positivity that one day these individuals will meet the creator and that they will not be empty again but be filled with affection that they were longing for.
To make the event even more fun, Patrolwoman Shaira Rose Aquino had conducted parlor games that were participated by everyone. Laughter and cheers echoed across the entire facility, as if all were like kids playing in the rain. A flicker of longing which they have long-suppressed had been ignited, a brief but intense spark of excitement, which was a reminder of the joy they had not felt for quite a long while.
As a symbol of their gratitude to the team, the women had presented a heartfelt song number. As the melody had filled the facility, many of the team were moved, with some finding tears falling down their faces. These were not tears of sadness, but tears of profound fulfillment. In just a matter of a day, the team had witnessed a transformation, a testimony to the power of human connection and shared purpose.
