With flags flying high and hearts filled with pride, the Philippine National Police (PNP) joined the nationwide commemoration of the 127th Independence Day on June 12, 2025 with the theme, “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan.”
Police General Nicolas D Torre III, PNP Chief, delegated the police officers to participate in the solemn ceremony held at Rizal Park, Manila, led by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., accompanied by First Lady Liza A. Marcos and their three sons, in celebration of the country’s declaration of independence. Also in attendance were members of the President’s Cabinet, chiefs and heads of various law enforcement and government agencies, members of the diplomatic community, representatives of civic and youth organizations, and thousands of citizens.

As the nation’s peacekeepers, PNP remained steadfast in its mandate to ensure public safety throughout the day’s celebrations. A total of 49,713 police personnel were mobilized nationwide, in coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), local government units, and sectoral groups to secure the historic celebration across the provinces and cities.

PGen Torre III emphasized the importance of this comprehensive deployment, stating: “The Philippine National Police is fully committed to ensuring a safe, peaceful, and meaningful celebration of our 127th Independence Day. We call on the public to cooperate with our personnel, remain vigilant, and report any suspicious activities. Together, let us honor our nation’s history and freedom with unity and discipline.”

In Metro Manila, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) deployed 10,969 personnel from district offices and regional support units, reinforced by barangay peacekeeping teams and civilian volunteers, to maintain security across high-traffic areas including Luneta, historical sites, major roads, malls, and transport terminals. The deployment breakdown included 1,698 police officers from the Northern Police District (NPD); 1,414 from the Eastern Police District (EPD); 1,889 from the Manila Police District (MPD); 1,671 from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD); and the Southern Police District (SPD) contributing the largest contingent with 2,658 police officers.

Further reinforcing the security operation were personnel from NCRPO, including 36 from the Regional Headquarters (RHQ), 10 officers from the Regional Intelligence Division (RID), and 1,100 personnel from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB). Medical Teams from the Regional Medical and Dental Unit (RMDU) remained on standby with 63 personnel, while personnel from the Regional Civil Engineering Unit (RECU), Regional Forensic Unit (RFU), and Regional Information Technology Office (RITO) were also strategically deployed.
Although a few protest actions were monitored, the presence of law enforcers ensured that these assemblies remained peaceful, with maximum tolerance observed throughout the day. Such collective efforts of national and local agencies, as well as volunteers, were paid off when PNP announced that the observance of the Philippine Independence day was generally peaceful, with no significant incidents reported.

“This day reminds us of the courage and sacrifice of our heroes, and the responsibility we carry in protecting our democracy and peace. I extend my deepest gratitude to all police personnel and our security partners for ensuring a safe and dignified celebration of our freedom,” said PGen Torre III.
With honor, courage, and integrity, PNP stands in solidarity with the Filipino people in upholding the hard-earned freedom that defines our identity as a sovereign nation.
