The Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5) has made significant strides in the fight against illegal drugs, seizing over Php1 million worth of narcotics during a series of intensive anti-drug operations conducted from October 7 to 13, 2024. This initiative reflects the ongoing commitment of PRO5 to safeguard the community from the devastating impacts of illegal substances.

During this period, PRO5 executed a total of 27 operations, which resulted in the arrest of 33 individuals involved in drug-related activities.

The comprehensive efforts led to the confiscation of 150.7780 grams of shabu (methamphetamine) and 1 gram of marijuana, amounting to a staggering total standard drug price of Php1,025,410.40. These figures highlight the scale of the challenge posed by illegal drug trade in the region and underscore the relentless determination of Kasurog Cops to combat this pressing social problem.

Among the provinces of region 5, Camarines Sur recorded as the province with the highest drug haul, with illicit drugs valued at Php411,468.00 seized. Following closely was Albay, where authorities confiscated drugs worth Php259,760.00. These accomplishments not only demonstrate the effectiveness of PRO5’s operations but also reflect the leadership of PBGen Andre P. Dizon, the Regional Director, whose vision and guidance have been instrumental in advancing the region’s anti-drug initiatives. His guidance and support has fostered a culture of accountability and vigilance within the ranks of PRO5, reassuring the public of their commitment to safety and security.

The recent operations serve as a clear message to those involved in the drug trade: Kasurog Cops is resolute in its mission to eradicate illegal drugs from the Bicol Region. The threat posed by illegal drugs is not only a law enforcement issue but a community concern that affects the health, safety, and well-being of Bicolanos. Each successful operation brings hope and assurance to the public that their lives and communities are being protected.

Looking ahead, PRO5 plans to sustain the momentum of its anti-drug operations. This will involve strengthening coordination and collaboration with various government agencies, local government units (LGUs), and community stakeholders. By building strong partnerships and fostering community awareness, PRO5 aims to create a united front against the curse of illegal drugs.

The successful operations conducted by PRO5 over the past week signify not only a substantial blow to drug trafficking in the region but also a renewed commitment to public safety. As the fight against illegal drugs continues, the Philippine National Police, led by PNP Chief Police General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, remains dedicated to its mission of ensuring that every community in the country can thrive in an environment free from the dangers of drug abuse and trafficking.
