The Regional Police Community Affairs and Development Unit – Cordillera (RPCADU-CAR), in collaboration with various stakeholders, had illuminated the community of Gayasi, Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet, with the “Light a Village” outreach program on November 16, 2024.
The “Light a Village” program was a collaborative effort between RPCADU-CAR, led by PCol Luisito B. Meris, the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 (RMFB 15), and other government agencies.
This initiative, generously sponsored by Ms. Venus Yap, President of LSCMM Foundation, Inc., sought to cultivate hope, unity, and compassion among residents, especially during the festive season. By bringing the community together, the program aimed to create a sense of belonging and support, encouraging individuals to share in the spirit of giving and togetherness through various activities and events. Here, participants were able to connect with one another, fostering a stronger and more resilient community.
Volunteers had worked alongside residents to adorn homes with colorful lights and ornaments, creating a festive ambiance. Children had received delightful treats, spreading joy and cheer throughout the community. A range of games and activities were organized to entertain and educate the youth, fostering a sense of camaraderie and unity. Finally, a communal lunch brought residents together, fostering social interaction and strengthening community ties with humility underscored.
The “Light a Village” program was well-received by the people of Gayasi, who were grateful for this unique initiative in their community. The event had provided a much-needed break from daily routines and had given opportunities for social interaction and bonding.
The success of the “Light a Village” program had shown the power of different groups blending with tradition and culture, the villagers working together for one cause. Such efforts had showcased unity, teamwork, and social strength among residents.
