In the ongoing war on illegal drugs, a joint operation led by the Tacloban City Police Office โ Drug Enforcement Unit, was seized from a High-Value Individual an estimated Php7,480,000 worth of shabu on January 29, 2025 at Barangay 25 Magsaysay Boulevard inTacloban City.
The operation resulted to the arrest of “Budoy,” a 37-year-old unemployed man, was a high-value narcotics suspect who resides at Mazawalo Poblacion in Palompon, Leyte.
In the report submitted, at around 10:25 in the evening, the Tacloban City Police Office-City Drug Enforcement Unit, under the leadership of Regional Director PBGen Jay R Cumigad, and the supervision of City Director PCol Noelito A Getigan, who had teamed up with the PNP โ Drug Enforcement Group Special Operation Unit 8 and the Tacloban City Intelligence Unit, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 8. They conducted the said operation, confiscating from the suspect two packs of suspected shabu with an estimated weight of 1.1 kilos, a 500-peso bill along with 66 pieces of 1,000-peso bill; a 500-peso bill used as buy-bust money; a sling bag; and a unit 9mm Taurus pistol with four bullets.

The arrested suspect is currently detained at the Tacloban City Police Office (TCPO) custodial facility. Criminal charges were prepared against him for violating the provisions of COMELEC Resolution No. 11067 relative to the ban of guns during the election period, and Sections 5 and 11 of Article II of RA 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
PCol Getigan had extended his appreciation for the prompt and decisive response of the team that led to the success of the operation. He also urged the local government unit and the community to collaborate closely with the police through up-to-date information regarding illicit drug problems in their area of responsibility.
