Mountain Province PNP seizes over Php10.8M worth of fully grownmarijuana plants

In line with the intensified anti-illegal drugs campaign, operatives from the Mountain Province had seized an estimated Php10,800,000.00 worth of fully-grown marijuana plants during a marijuana eradication operation at Mount Balitoc, Saclit in Sadanga, Mountain Province August 17, 2024.


Police Colonel Sibly P. Dawiguey Jr., Provincial Director of the Mountain Province Police Provincial Office, had stated that they raided the plantation under the “Oplan: Manbahdut” marijuana eradication campaign after receiving information from a concerned citizen. The operation was successful due to the combined efforts of the operatives led by the Sadanga MPS, along with the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company, Provincial Intelligence Unit/Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, Mountain Province Public Information Office, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency of Mountain Province.


The operation led to the discovery of two marijuana plantations with a total area of 2,200 square meters, where 54,000 fully-grown marijuana plants had been found valued at a standard drug price of Php10,800,000.00.


All the discovered marijuana plants had been documented and burned on-site, with sufficient samples taken to be submitted to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Mountain Province for qualitative testing.


Police Colonel Dawiguey praised the operatives for their hard work and successful operation, emphasizing their commitment to keeping the region safe. He stressed the importance of remaining vigilant and taking proactive measures and assured that they would further intensify their campaign against illegal drugs to put an end to the spread of prohibited substances in its area of responsibility. The concerned units are currently engaged in follow-up investigations to identify other marijuana plantation sites and apprehend the individuals responsible for cultivation.


This significant accomplishment underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to eradicating the illegal drugs trade and its continued support for the current administration’s whole-of-nation approach for the attainment of inclusive and sustainable peace.
