Through an initiative aimed at strengthening community safety and combating illegal drug use, the National Capital Region Police Office under the leadership of PMGen Jose Melencio C. Nartatez, Jr, Regional Director, together with the Department of Interior and Local Government led by SILG Atty. Benhur C. Abalos have united in the implementation of the R-PSB BIDA Program.
On August 3, 2024, a grand event took place at the NCRPO Grandstand, Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig City, bringing together top officials from the Philippine National Police (PNP), DILG, and Local Government Units (LGUs). The grand launching was graced by SILG Atty. Benhur C. Abalos, along with PGen Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, CPNP. Honored guests included Dir Gen Moro Virgilio Lazo, PDEA; Mayor Imelda Calixto Rubio of Pasay City; Mayor Rozzano Rufino Biazon of Muntinlupa City; Mayor Miguel PONCE III of Pateros; and Mayor Jeannie Sandoval of Malabon City. All Regional Directors of the PNP and District Directors of National Capital Region Police Office had also graced the event.
In his speech, SILG Abalos had emphasized the program’s commitment to fostering a collaborative approach to community safety. He stated, “The war on drugs should not be fought by the Police and government alone, but by all sectors, working together in the whole-of-nation approach against illegal drugs under the R-PSB BIDA program.” He had acknowledged in his message the unwavering initiatives of the Philippine National Police in combating criminality and illegal drugs, even extending his heartfelt gratitude to the barangay tanods and other force multipliers for their invaluable support and dedication in maintaining peace and order in our communities. Likewise, PGen Marbil, Dir Gen Lazo and PMGen Nartatez had also conveyed their full support for R-PSB BIDA. On the other hand, the Barangay Chairmen from Putatan in Muntinlupa and Tondo in Manila shared messages of support and commitment for the event.
The program aims to empower communities to actively participate in crime prevention and drug abuse prevention efforts. The R-PSB BIDA program will be implemented in all barangays across the country signifying a renewed commitment by PNP and DILG to create safer and more secure communities in the Philippines. Through collaborative efforts, community involvement, and a holistic approach in addressing crime and drug abuse, the program also aims to foster a safer and more peaceful environment for all.
