In a significant blow to the illegal drug trade in Metro Manila, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) had dismantled a drug den in Barangay Merville, Parañaque City on November 11, 2024. The operation, part of the NCRPO’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs and loose firearms ahead of the 2025 National and Local Elections, had resulted in the seizure of an estimated Php1.5 Million worth of shabu and a firearm.
The operation, conducted by the District Drug Enforcement Unit, Southern Police District (DDEU-SPD), in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), had stemmed from intelligence reports and surveillance activities that resulted to identifying the drug den’s location. During the raid, PNP had apprehended four (4) individuals, including the primary suspect, Reynaldo Lipata Jr y Cavitino a.k.a “J”, along with his cohorts Edjane Agana, Reymar Cena, and Mark Anthony Ozores.
Seized during the operation were more or less 225 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated value of Php1, 530, 000.00, and a 9mm caliber firearm, complete with magazine and live ammunition.
The apprehended individuals face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), and Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
The Philippine National Police remains committed to its intensified campaign against illegal drugs and loose firearms, ensuring a safe and secure environment for the upcoming elections. The successful dismantling of the drug den in Parañaque serves as a testament to the PNP’s unwavering dedication to upholding the law and protecting the community.
This operation underscores the NCRPO’s commitment to maintaining peace and order in Metro Manila, particularly in the lead-up to the 2025 elections.
