Gallant Valley Cops Takedown
As the country prepares for the upcoming elections, the Philippine National Police (PNP), under the leadership of PGen Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, has taken action to secure the electoral process by launching the simultaneous kick-off of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) checkpoints nationwide on January 12, 2025. Recognizing the heightened risks associated with election season, PNP is prioritizing proactive measures to prevent any disruption that could compromise the safety of voters and the integrity of the elections. The establishment of these checkpoints is a strategic move aimed at enhancing public security, dismantling criminal operations, and ensuring that the public can exercise their right to vote without fear.
One of these checkpoints was set up in Roxas, Isabela, where an intense operation had unfolded. The checkpoint, as part of the security measures, had become the focus of a significant drug bust that had resulted to the seizure of nearly Php29 Million worth of illegal substances. The incident began when a black SUV, attempting to evade the checkpoint, had collided with a police patrol car, sparking a daring pursuit. The Roxas Police Station, after the initial collision, had quickly initiated a hot-pursuit operation, coordinating with neighboring police stations to track down the fleeing vehicle. After more than 15 minutes of chasing, the vehicle was successfully cornered in Barangay Centro, Mallig, Isabela. Upon stopping the suspects, the authorities had discovered 222 marijuana bricks, valued at Php26,640,000, and 19 rolled marijuana packages worth Php2,280,000.00. Additionally, a grenade was recovered, adding to the list of dangerous contraband items. The suspects, identified as aka “Jomel” and aka “Rico,” both 30 years old and residents of Baranka Ilaya, Mandaluyong City, were promptly arrested, and the said contraband items were confiscated.
A press conference was held on January 16, 2025 to present the confiscated evidence from a successful operation in Roxas, Isabela. During the briefing, PCol Lee Allen B. Bauding, Provincial Director of the Isabela Police Provincial Office (PPO), had expressed pride in the operation and emphasized the Isabela PPO’s ongoing commitment to combating illegal drug activities. “This operation demonstrates the dedication of our officers to protect the community from the dangers of illegal drugs,” he said, assuring the public that efforts will continue to maintain peace and order. PMaj Christian Arc T. Caoile, Chief of Police of Roxas, had commended his team for their swift and efficient response, reiterating the Roxas Police Station’s commitment to supporting government security efforts and ensuring accountability for criminals.
PBGen Antonio P. Marallag Jr., Regional Director of PRO2, praises the operation’s success, emphasizing the importance of checkpoints in fighting crime and apprehending violators in the Cagayan Valley. “Our police officers are working round the clock to maintain security and combat illegal activities in our region.”
The Gallant Valley Cops stand tall in their commitment to uphold peace and security, ensuring a safe environment for everyone, especially as the election season approaches. Their dedication reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to public safety and the fight against crime and illegal drugs.
