NPD Seizes Php74.8M Worth of Shabu in Caloocan Anti-Drug Operation

A major breakthrough in the fight against illegal drugs was, again, put through by Northern Police District (NPD) when authorities confiscated an estimated 11,000 grams of suspected shabu valued at Php74.8 Million during a buy-bust operation conducted on Sunday evening, April 27, 2025, in Barangay Amparo, North Caloocan City.

The operation was carried out at around 8:15 PM at #216 Phase 1, Package 3, Block 13, by a composite team from the Special Operations Unit 3 of the PNP Drug Enforcement Group (DEG); the District Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU) of the NPD; the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) NCR Regional Special Enforcement Team 1, together with the Caloocan City Police Station’s Sub-station 15.

The arrested suspects were later placed under the custody of Amparo Sub-Station 15, while charges for violation of Section 5, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) are being prepared as of this writing. This section penalizes any person who, unless authorized by law, shall sell, trade, administer, dispense, deliver, give away, distribute, dispatch in transit, or transport any dangerous drug, including any and all species of opium poppy regardless of the quantity and purity involved, or shall act as a broker in any such transaction, with the penalty of life imprisonment to death and a fine ranging from Php500,000 to Php10 Million.

All drug-related evidence will be submitted to the NPD Crime Laboratory for chemical analysis, while other confiscated items are under the safekeeping of SOU 3, PNP DEG in accordance with chain of custody procedures.

NPD District Director Police Brigadier General Josefino D. Ligan applauded the personnel of the District Drug Enforcement Unit and all teams involved, citing the operation as a strong affirmation of the NPD’s mission to protect and serve the public with dedication and integrity.

This significant haul underscores the continuing commitment of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) to its AAA Strategy—Able, Active, and Allied—a holistic approach that aims to build safer communities through skillful policing, swift response, and solid partnerships with the public.

NCRPO Regional Director Police Major General Anthony A. Aberin also commended the operatives for their bravery and coordination, stating that such accomplishments reflect the NCRPO’s strong resolve in its anti-illegal drugs campaign.
