PBBM reaffirms government’s commitment to dismantling drug syndicates; emphasizes the importance of International Cooperation

In a recent checkpoint operation conducted by the Alitagtag Philippine National Police (PNP) in Barangay Pinagkurusan, Batangas on April 15, 2024, a staggering worth of shabu was intercepted from a van driver. The driver was apprehended after failing to present a valid driver’s license upon request by the authorities. Suspicious of the van’s contents, officers inspected the vehicle and uncovered approximately 1.8 tons of shabu concealed in plastic containers wrapped in blue tarpaulin.

DILG Secretary Benjamin ‘Benhur’ Abalos Jr. gave the green light for the spot promotion of Police Captain Luis De Luna, who led in the interception of billions worth of shabu. PCpt De Luna’s swift elevation from the rank of Police Captain to Police Major is in recognition of his outstanding performance during the said operation. Every individual who had a lead in the successful operation is also eligible for spot promotion, with their exceptional dedication and professionalism in combating the illegal drug trade being highlighted.

Addressing the nation in response to this groundbreaking revelation, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. expressed profound concern over the magnitude of the illicit substance confiscated. Standing alongside officials from the Department of Justice and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), President Marcos reaffirmed the government’s commitment to dismantling drug syndicates and holding perpetrators accountable for their actions. Emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in combating transnational drug trafficking, President Marcos urged unity and solidarity in the collective fight against this pervasive menace.

President Marcos Jr. stressed the importance of international cooperation in addressing transnational drug trafficking. “There is no single bullet to this. We have to operate, gather intelligence, and coordinate with international agencies like Interpol and our counterparts in other countries,” he emphasized.

In a stern warning to drug syndicates, President Marcos Jr. declared, “Bahala kayo sa ginagawa nyo, basta tuloy-tuloy lang kami. Aabutan din namin kayo, maliit lang ang Pilipinas.”
