Php2.7M Worth of Illegal Drugs seized in Rizal; Five Suspects arrested

The battle against illegal drugs continues to be a top priority for law enforcement agencies as these harmful substances remain a major threat to public safety, health, and the moral fabric of society. By dismantling drug networks and apprehending individuals who are involved, the police aim to curb the devastating effects of illegal drugs in communities and individuals, especially the youth.

In line with this mission, the Angono Municipal Police Station’s Drug Enforcement Team arrested five individuals and seized an estimated Php 2.7 Million worth of suspected shabu during an operation in Barangay San Isidro, Angono, Rizal on January 19, 2025, at around 6:18 PM.

The arrested individuals included alias “Rodney,” 27; alias “Melquiadez,” 73; and alias “Gladdys,” 45, all residents of Barangay San Isidro, Angono, Rizal, are identified as High-Value Individuals (HVIs) on the authorities’ watchlist. Also apprehended were alias “Jose,” 32, from Barangay Muzon, Taytay, Rizal, and alias “Samuel,” 48, from Barangay San Isidro, Angono, Rizal, both categorized as Street-Level Individuals (SLI).

During the operation, law enforcers confiscated 13 plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, weighing approximately 400 grams, with a street value of Php 2,720,000. Additionally, two mobile phones, a digital weighing scale, a brown handbag, and buy-bust money were recovered as evidences.

Regional Director PBGen Paul Kenneth T. Lucas commended the Angono police for their commitment to ensuring a drug-free community. “This operation is a clear reflection of our unwavering commitment to eliminating illegal drugs. The arrest of these individuals is a significant achievement in our ongoing efforts to safeguard the public and uphold peace and order. We will not relent in our mission to protect the community,” PBGen Lucas emphasized.

The suspects, along with the confiscated evidences, are as of this writing, under the custody of the Angono Police Station. Charges for violations of Republic Act 9165, known as the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002,” are being prepared and will be filed with the Rizal Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Taytay, Rizal.
