Php44.4 Million Worth of Shabu seized in a Joint Buy-Bust Operation in Davao Del Norte

On the morning of February 15, 2025, a joint anti-illegal drugs operation was successfully carried out in Panabo City, Davao del Norte, marking a significant achievement in the ongoing efforts to combat the proliferation of illegal drugs in the region. This operation had targeted two of the region’s top drug personalities, identified as the regional-level top 1 and top 3 high-value individuals (HVIs) involved in the illegal drug trade. These individuals were part of the top 10 HVIs in the region, making their arrest a major blow to drug syndicates operating in the area.

The operation, conducted at Oakwood Residence in Purok 2, Barangay New Visayas, was well-coordinated and had involved multiple law enforcement agencies, led by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 11, together with personnel from the Regional Intelligence Division PRO 11, City Special Operations Group/City Drug Enforcement Unit, Panabo City Police Station, 2nd  Davao Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company (2nd DNPMFC), Provincial Intelligence Unit-DNPPO, and Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA). A total of 6.537 kilograms of shabu (methamphetamine) with an estimated Standard Drug Price (SDP) of Php44,451,600.00, was seized during the operation. This substantial amount of illegal drugs underscores the seriousness of the individuals involved and the threat they pose to the community.

The operation was hailed as a success by Police Brigadier General Leon Victor Z. Rosete, the Regional Director of the Police Regional Office 11. He emphasized the PNP’s unwavering commitment to dismantling drug syndicates and protecting the public from the devastating effects of illegal drugs. Rosete’s message to drug peddlers was clear: “PNP will continue to relentlessly pursue those who are responsible for the illegal drug trade, sending a strong deterrent message to others who might consider engaging in similar activities.”

The operation aligns with the strategic framework laid out by Police General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, PNP Chief, who has emphasized a rights-based and non-violent approach to anti-drug efforts. PGen Marbil’s approach focuses on respecting human rights while effectively curbing illegal drug activities, ensuring that the campaign remains just and ethical while achieving its objectives.

Overall, this operation is a testament to the effectiveness of coordinated law enforcement efforts in addressing the widespread issue of illegal drugs in the region. By removing high-value individuals from the drug trade, authorities are sending a very strong message to other drug syndicates and criminals lurking around our communities, demonstrating that they will not be spared nor tolerated, and that the law will prevail.
