On March 3, 2025, the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) successfully conducted the 2nd Meeting of the Security Task Force (STF) for the 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE) and the BARMM Parliamentary Elections at the PNP Multi-Purpose Center, Camp BGen Rafael T. Crame in Quezon City. The meeting aimed to assess the current security situation and reinforce strategies to ensure a peaceful, safe, and orderly election.
Police General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, Chief PNP, COMELEC Chairman George Erwin M. Garcia, and Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., the Deputy Chief PNP for Administration, led in the discussions, underscoring the importance of inter-agency coordination in maintaining peace and order during the elections. They highlighted the need for heightened vigilance and proactive security measures to prevent election-related violence and other potential threats.

Among the key topics addressed were the Current Risk and Threat Assessment, presented by Police Major General Westrimundo D. Obinque, Director for Intelligence, and Updates on Security Preparations for the 2025 NLE, discussed by Police Major General Nicolas S. Salvador, Director for Operations and Deputy Commander of STF 2025 NLE.
COMELEC also shared its ongoing preparations for the 2025 elections, emphasizing the implementation of COMELEC checkpoints, the strict enforcement of the Fair Election Act, and intensified campaigns against vote-buying and other election-related violations. These initiatives are designed to ensure the integrity and credibility of the electoral process.

In line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to uphold the integrity of the elections, both PNP and COMELEC reaffirmed their commitment to conducting a secure, honest, and transparent elections.
Police General Marbil assured the public of the police force’s dedication to its mandate, stating, “The PNP will remain steadfast in securing the 2025 elections. Under the guidance of President Marcos and in close coordination with COMELEC, we will implement all necessary measures to guarantee a fair and peaceful election.”
As the meeting concluded, both agencies reinforced their strong partnership and commitment to safeguarding the democratic rights of every Filipino. With strategic planning and inter-agency cooperation, PNP and COMELEC are determined to ensure a secure and well-organized 2025 National and Local Elections.
