PNP and PCCAI forge Partnership for Police Medical Aid

In a significant development aimed at improving the well-being of police personnel, the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine-Chinese Charitable Association, Inc. (PCCAI) signed a groundbreaking Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on July 23, 2024, at the Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center.

The ceremony was attended by esteemed guests, including Mr. Antonio Tan, Chairman of the Board of the PCCAI, who delivered the welcome remarks, and Atty. Benjamin “Benhur” C. Abalos, Jr., Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, also shared a message.

During the event, PGen Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, Chief of the Philippine National Police, delivered an inspiring address highlighting the significance of the partnership in ensuring the welfare of police officers.

As part of the program, the agreement’s beneficiaries, namely PLTCOL John Guiagui, PMAJ Emmark Dave Navarro Apostol, PMSg Julius Emil Garcia Omolon, and PCpl Keith Paul Tristan Valdez, were recognized. The event concluded with closing remarks from Mr. Kelly Sia, President and CEO of the Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center.

The MOA includes provisions for the PCCAI to provide preliminary medical aid and treatment at the Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center to all police personnel assigned in Metro Manila who sustain injuries in the line of duty and are transported there by the PNP. The hospital will offer diagnosis, treatment, surgery, major operations, and access to medical equipment and facilities from admission to discharge. Recovered PNP uniformed personnel will be discharged free of charge upon presentation of proof of “line of duty” status and active PNP membership, with the bill not exceeding One Million Pesos. Any additional costs will be covered by the patient or the PNP uniformed personnel.

In his address, PGen Marbil expressed his profound gratitude, stating, “I extend my deepest appreciation to the Philippine-Chinese Charitable Association, Inc. and the Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center, for their unwavering support and generosity. Your continued partnership exemplifies the best of public-private collaboration, and it sets a remarkable precedent for how different sectors can come together to address the needs of our community.”

“To our PNP personnel, I encourage you to fully utilize the medical services made available through this agreement and to participate actively in our commitments to the hospital, including the quarterly blood donation drives. Your health is paramount, and taking care of it ensures that you can continue to serve our nation effectively.”

This partnership underscores the shared commitment of the PNP and PCCAI to safeguard the health and safety of police personnel, fostering a more resilient community through dedicated service and support.
