PNP- OLCFI’s LAB VIRUS: Bringing Hope, Touching Lives

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others”. This quote by Mahatma Gandhi perfectly captures the essence of medical missions, where selfless service and compassion bring healing, hope, and blessings to those in need. It best illustrates the noble undertakings of the PNP-Officers’ Ladies Club Foundation Incorporated (OLCFI) whose unconditional love spreads like a wildfire, touching people’s lives through their LAB (Love and Blessing) Virus program that focuses on the welfare of the people, particularly to PNP personnel and their dependents.

Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11) truly felt the love and blessings of the PNP-OLCFI, as it sponsored a special medical mission on June 4, 2025, for PRO 11 personnel and their dependents who were suffering from chronic diseases. To alleviate the struggles of police officers with long-term illnesses, PNP OLCFI collaborates with the Regional Medical and Dental Unit-11, Camp Sgt. Quintin M Merecido Hospital (CSQMMH)-11, and other affiliated offices from PRO11.

The foundation provided a variety of medical services, including medical consultations, psychological counseling, medicine distribution, nutrition counseling, dental services, basic laboratory services, operation tuli, minor surgeries, vital signs check up as well as the distribution of sacks of rice, groceries and financial assistance. The services reflect the foundation’s goal of delivering comprehensive medical care to its beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, the recipients of the said medical mission expressed their gratitude for the foundation’s commitment and unwavering efforts in bringing positive change especially in PRO 11. With such initiative, critically-ill police officers were given the opportunity to recover from their illnesses and begin a new chapter in their lives.

PNP- OLCFI not only spreads love and blessings, but also brings hope to those who have almost given up. It shines a light into the lives of people long burdened by illness. These police officers, once shadows of their formers selves, are now regaining strength and purpose, their spirits renewed and their dedication unshaken.

The simultaneous LAB Virus Program and Medical Mission was also conducted nationwide, with the Chief of the Philippine National Police, Police General Nicolas D. Torre III, leading the activity held at the Multi-Purpose Center, Camp BGen Rafael T. Crame in Quezon City. The event was spearheaded by the PNP OLC Foundation, Inc. in collaboration with the Directorate for Police Community Relations and the PNP Health Service (PNP HS), in partnership with the Cardinal Santos Medical Center and PSMBFI.

Distinguished attendees included Mrs. Leilani S. Alba, President of the PNP OLC Foundation, Inc.; Mr. Raul C. Pagdanganan, President and CEO of Cardinal Santos Medical Center; and Trustee Michael John F. Dubria, PSMBFI President and CEO.

A key highlight of the event was the formal introduction of Mrs. Patricia Jane P. Torre as the Incoming Adviser of the PNP OLC Foundation, Inc., marked by the symbolic turnover of responsibility by the Outgoing Adviser, Mrs. Mary Rose P. Marbil.

The activity also featured a live nationwide “whip around” via Zoom, enabling all Police Regional Offices, except NCRPO, to report in real-time on their respective LAB Virus Programs and mini-medical missions. These regional events were implemented in partnership with RCADDs, RMDUs, and PNP-OLCFI Officers, aiming to promote community health and wellness through medical services.

Further enriching the event were the distribution of financial aid to PNP personnel with health conditions, a health lecture focused on breast care and cancer awareness, and the launch of a podcast teaser co-presented by PSMBFI and PNP OLCFI, highlighting future initiatives to support police personnel and their families.

This synchronized nationwide activity exemplifies the PNP’s commitment to holistic community service, multi-sectoral collaboration, and the well-being of both its personnel and the communities they serve.
