The Philippine National Police (PNP) held its first Command Conference for 2025 on January 8 at the National Headquarters in Camp Crame, bringing together the PNP Command Group, Directors of National Support Units and Police Regional Offices, and other senior key officers to chart the strategic direction for the year ahead.
PNP Chief, Police General Rommel Francisco Marbil, provided critical guidance aimed at ensuring the efficient implementation of PNP programs and enhancing organizational performance.
Among the key topics discussed was the implementation of the PNP Interim Organizational Structure and Staffing Pattern, emphasizing specialization and the elimination of overlapping functions. While the deactivation of the Area Police Commands (APCs) will not occur immediately, General Marbil had stressed the need for a smooth transition to optimize operations.
Addressing resource challenges, the Chief PNP had announced the redistribution of assets to strengthen field operations. “Maraming kulang na sasakyan sa baba. We are downloading vehicles to the regions to address mobility challenges,” he said, adding that there will be close monitoring of all resources, proper allocation of the Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE), and equitable distribution of fuel supplies to operational units.
General Marbil had also called for heightened accountability and efficiency, urging all commanders to fast-track the implementation of PNP programs and to foster specialization among personnel to elevate the quality of police service.
He had emphasized the role of Regional Directors and unit commanders in maintaining public trust and preserving the integrity of the organization. “When a police officer disgraces the uniform, it tarnishes the entire organization. Let us ensure that our actions reflect the values of discipline and honor,” he said, directing the prompt filing of administrative cases against erring personnel.
As the 2025 Traslacion approaches and the election period begins this month, the top cop emphasized the importance of operational readiness to address the security and public safety demands of these significant events. He urged all units to ensure close coordination, heightened vigilance, and a proactive stance in safeguarding peace and order during these critical times.
General Marbil had concluded with a strong message of commitment: “The public trusts us. Let us not let them down. We must perform our duties with excellence and honor, for there is no room for mistakes in our line of work.”
With clear directives and a focus on preparedness for the challenges ahead, PNP reaffirms its steadfast dedication to serving and protecting the Filipino people in 2025.
