PRO 11 joins the Simultaneous Showdown Inspection of PNP Disaster Response Equipment Capabilities

The Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 headed by Police Brigadier General Aligre L. Martinez, Regional Director of PRO 11, had carried out a Simultaneous Showdown Inspection of PNP Disaster Response Equipment Capabilities, on May 28, 2024 at the PRO 11 Parading Ground, Camp Quintin M Merecido in Buhangin, Davao. The activity, simultaneously conducted nationwide, and was participated in by various units via an online platform presided by PGen Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, Chief, PNP.

Over the course of the inspection, the Search and Rescue (SAR) team’s preparedness, the longevity of the rubber boats, and the rescue vehicles have all been examined one by one by the Regional Director. This made sure that PRO 11 is fully equipped and ready to handle any environmental issues resulting from any catastrophic disaster within the Davao Region.

The Simultaneous Showdown Inspection took place in the month of June, the month noted for bringing a tremendous amount of rain, and possible catastrophic events in the country. PNP with its proactive stance guarantees that the organization is prepared to tackle problems associated with the arrival of rainy season and can promptly dispatch SAR personnel to carry out rescue operations.

PRO 11 must always be ready because the Region is one of the areas in the country where catastrophic events frequently occur as a result of persistent rains. The region’s mining districts where irresponsible mining activities have degraded the environment, are particularly vulnerable to severe structural damages and fatalities during the rainy seasons. Being an equipped and proficient police force in times of disaster will be very beneficial to the impacted population and can reduce the number of fatalities.

The Regional Director of PRO 11, expressed satisfaction and gratitude for the activity’s completion. He appreciated PRO 11 SAR Team’s readiness to assist the people of Davao Region during difficult periods especially those following possible devastating catastrophes during the rainy season. The possibility of floodings and resultant incidents brought by the rainy season, made PRO 11 on the alert with trucks and equipment prepared to be employed during unfavorable times. He expressed gratitude to the entire PRO 11 SAR team for their active participation demonstrating PRO 11’s capabilities and their commitment to helping distressed people affected by calamitous events.
