PRO 3 hosted the Central Luzon Anti-Illegal Drug Summit

Building a Safer Future

One of the priorities of Police General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, the recently appointed head of the Philippine National Police (PNP), is combating the proliferation of illegal drugs. To align with this objective, the Police Regional Office 3 hosted the Central Luzon Anti-Illegal Drugs Summit for select barangays in the region on April 15, 2024.

The notable event was spearheaded by the Department of the Interior and Local Government 3 under Atty. Anthony Nuyda, with the goal of perpetuating collaborative endeavors in the ongoing battle against illegal drugs, and in enhancing community awareness to its fullest extent. The event was additionally honored by the presence of key figures from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, the Department of Health, and the Department of Justice, each playing a crucial role in the fight against illegal drugs.

Two hundred participants from various barangays across the region, which are yet to be declared as drug cleared, gained insights relative to the process of drug-clearing and its attendant legal policies.  The discussion also spotlighted in the treatment and rehabilitation of People Who Use Drugs (PWUDs), and the possible interventions to the issues and concerns experienced by the barangays, especially in their aspirations of achieving a drug-cleared status.

The participants expressed their appreciation for the timely summit, since they were able to acquire valuable knowledge that they can apply within their respective barangays, and in devising tangible solutions in their pursuit of establishing drug-free communities.

Furthermore, Police Brigadier General Jose S. Hidalgo Jr., Regional Director of PRO 3, emphasized the relevance of the summit, noting that the campaign against illegal drugs stands as one of the top priorities of the Chief PNP. He reiterated PRO3’s steadfast commitment to making strong strides in the fight against illegal drugs, highlighting the dedication of the Central Luzon law enforcement officers in retarding, if not halting, the spread of illegal substances in the region.

The summit aims to promote a clear vision of fostering safer communities, providing residents with secure environments that are free from the turmoil caused by illegal drug use. The Police Regional Office 3 is committed to diligently fulfil its duties, collaborating with various departments and agencies to emerge victorious in the fight against illegal drugs in alignment with President Ferdinand โ€œBongbongโ€ Marcos Jr.’s goals of creating a “Bagong Pilipinas” for all Filipinos.
