The Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5) continues to intensify its anti-illegal drug campaign across the Bicol Region, recording a significant breakthrough on the second week of April with the confiscation of over Php8 Million worth of suspected shabu and the arrest of 29 individuals in a series of simultaneous operations.
From April 7 to 13, 2025, a total of 22 buy-bust and follow-up operations were conducted in several provinces, which collectively led to the seizure of approximately 1.193 kilograms of illegal drugs. The sustained operations were part of PRO5’s region-wide initiative to eliminate narcotics from local communities and disrupt the operations of drug syndicates in Region 5.

The Camarines Norte Police Provincial Office (PPO) recorded the highest value of confiscated illegal drugs, amounting to a staggering Php7.49 Million—the highest among all provinces in the Bicol Region. The Masbate PPO followed with Php272,000, while the Camarines Sur PPO recorded Php207,100.80. The Naga City Police Office, Albay PPO, Catanduanes PPO, and Sorsogon PPO also recorded illegal drug confiscations totaling Php72,420, Php47,600, Php13,600, and Php4,080, respectively.

PRO5 Regional Director, PBGen Andre P. Dizon, underscored that this operation reflects the relentless resolve of the Kasurog Cops to keep Bicol safe and free from illegal drugs.
“This operation reflects our firm stance against illegal drugs. We are relentless and uncompromising when it comes to protecting our communities. We will not stop until every barangay in Bicol is safe and drug-free,” said PBGen Dizon.

He also acknowledged the vital role of local government units, barangay leaders, and partner agencies, emphasizing that reports from the ground and community tips were instrumental in the success of the operations.
As of this writing, the suspects are in police custody and will face criminal charges under Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

PBGen Dizon reiterated that while arrests and seizures remain important, prevention and rehabilitation are equally crucial in the long-term solution to the drug crisis. He called for sustained collaboration between law enforcement, community groups, and educational institutions to ensure that the youth in the region are educated and protected from drug abuse.
“Our anti-illegal drugs campaign is not just about enforcement—it’s about building a future where every Bicolano can live in peace. This is a fight for the future of our children,” he added.
As the fight against illegal drugs continues, PRO5 remains steadfast in its commitment to eliminating illegal drug activities and protecting the welfare of Bicolanos, vowing to relentlessly dismantle drug operations across the region.
