In a determined effort to combat illegal drug activities in Western Visayas, the Police Regional Office (PRO6) executed a successful weeklong operation that culminated in the arrest of 98 individuals involved in drug-related activities and in the seizure of approximately 1945 grams of suspected shabu valued at Php 13,226,000.00.
The success of this operation was not an accident but the result of meticulous planning and execution. Over the span of a week, from May 6 to 12, 2024, the police conducted 81 strategically planned operations. Each raid and arrest was carried out with precision, demonstrating the dedication and professionalism of the officers involved.
Among those apprehended, 18 were identified as high-value individuals and 80 were categorized as street-level offenders.
The operation saw significant contributions from various police units: the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) that confiscated 824 grams of shabu and made 23 arrests; the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 that seized 430 grams and apprehended six individuals; the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) with 375 grams of shabu confiscated with nine arrested; the Negros Occidental PPO with 121 grams with 34 arrested; the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) with 95 grams and 14 individuals arrested, the Guimaras PPO confiscating 36 grams with three arrested; the Antique PPO with 34 grams seized and with two arrested; the Capiz PPO with 28 grams confiscated and five arrested; and the Aklan PPO with two grams seized and with two arrested.
The operation was overseen by PBGen Jack L Wanky, the Regional Director of PRO-6, who praised the operatives for their commendable performance. In his statement, PBGen Wanky emphasized the importance of maintaining vigilance, strictly tracking the associates of arrested suspects to prevent further the commission criminal activities.

Moreover, the successful operation has significantly disrupted the drug trade in Region 6. The seizure of such a substantial quantity of shabu and the arrest of numerous individuals involved in the drug trade send a very clear message to those engaged in these illegal activities.
PRO-6 aims to build on this success by conducting targeted operations against the illegal drug trade. Vigilance and a proactive stance will remain central to PRO’s strategy for a drug-free Western Visayas.
