On July 20, 2024 at Lingayen, Pangasinan, Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) organized an activity centered on a Resilient and Empowered Society through Engage Transformation of Mind and Emotion or R.E.S.E.T.M.E. which emphasized the activity’s aim to support PRO 1 personnel in overcoming intellectual and emotional challenges within the PNP service and in dealing with their families.
In a transformative move, PRO1 has unveiled this Project, a pioneering initiative designed to address the psychological well-being of police personnel and of survivors of unfortunate encounters. Underscoring the PNP’s commitment to enhancing the emotional and mental health of its officers, R.E.S.E.T.M.E. simultaneously provide support and hope to survivors of trauma.
Extensive training and seminars traditionally focus on the technical skills and operational aspects required for effective policing. But the psychological dimensions of law enforcement are often overlooked, and in many cases, this factor creates an emotional toll on survivors which can be overwhelming, thus, exacerbating the challenges they face in seeking justice and recovery.
Project R.E.S.E.T. M.E. hinges on the collaboration between PNP and various stakeholders. By working together with community organizations, mental health professionals, and other relevant entities, the project creates a comprehensive support system that addresses the multifaceted needs of both police personnel and survivors.
In conclusion, Project R.E.S.E.T. M.E. represents a significant step forward in the Philippine National Police’s approach to mental health and resilience. Taking into consideration the emotional well-being of its officers and survivors, the project not only enhances the effectiveness and credibility of the police force, but also provides vital support to those who have faced traumatic experiences. Through this initiative, PNP reaffirms its commitment to fostering a more resilient, empowered, and empathetic society.
