Ilocos Norte PPO Heroes’ Quick Response
The scorching heat of the afternoon sun had added to the rush of urgency of the locals along the provincial road in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte on March 17, 2025. It was because a certain toddler was accidentally trapped alone inside a car. According to the guardian of the two-year-old girl, he only left the child inside the car for few minutes while the car’s engine and air-conditioner was on but the child seemed to be playful, pressing anything inside which caused the said car to be locked.
Whisper of worries and gasping of breaths of desperation were heard around the area and the locals were still baffled on what had exactly to be done. But one thing remained sure, there was not enough time to waste as the toddler was trapped inside for almost an hour. Fortunately, two police officers: Patrolmen Jayvee Vite and Rexor John Navarro Rogel, both assigned in the Logistics/Supply Office of the Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office, had arrived just in time to provide immediate assistance.

With the permission of the child’s godparent, the police officers presented the quickest solution: to break the car’s window. Their composure and presence of mind led to the successful rescue of the trapped toddler.
Police Colonel Frederick E. Obar, the Provincial Director of Ilocos Norte PPO, commended their heroic act, stating that they have proven once again to fellowmen that our police officers will never hesitate to go beyond the call of duty in order to protect and save lives.
Despite the backlash and controversies that the PNP organization is currently facing, the dedication of our police officers on the ground remains resolute, showing their commitment in serving and protecting our communities and delivering timely responses wherever and whenever needed.
