The PNP Family Day 2024: Making Moments of Bliss

Family morals and values of Filipinos are distinct among others, and a uniform won’t change that. (Anonymous)

Delightfully proud, Filipinos are bonded by common values and traits that have been passed on from one generation to another. One of these is our being family-oriented. Thus, it is not a surprise to see family events organized here and there to maximize quality time for loved ones. What’s exceptionally impressive is the commitment of uniformed groups like the Philippine National Police (PNP) who just celebrated Family Day on June 22, 2024.

It is not new to everyone how most uniformed personnel are perceived as having demanding work schedules. They play a crucial role in maintaining peace and order in our communities which, most often than not, put their family life at bay. However challenging this may seem, many PNP personnel still ensure to strike a balance between work and personal life.

Said initiative of Police General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, Chief PNP, the PNP Family Day 2024 dubbed “Pamilya ng Pulis”, which was recently launched last June, aligns with his directive prioritizing PNP dependents in PCR-related activities. Generally, this newly developed program led by CPNP aims to enhance the lives and morale of police officers’ dependents. The initiative emphasizes that “Behind every strong officer is an even stronger family who supports them and loves them with all of their heart.”

Laying out the details, at 9:00 AM, the Philippine National Police (PNP) celebrated this year’s “Pamilya ng Pulis PNP Family Day” with PGen Marbil as the Keynote Speaker. The event was held at the PNP Grandstand/Transformation Oval of the PNP National Headquarters in Camp BGen Rafael T Crame, the launching simultaneously done in all Police Regional Offices (PROs).

The one-day event commenced with a short program, aired via Facebook live, followed by the ribbon cutting at the booth area. These were spearheaded by CPNP and his family which signified the formal start of the anticipated activity.

In his speech, PGen Marbil emphasized the need to include police dependents as beneficiaries of all police-community-related activities nationwide. The 30th chief said he wants police personnel and their families to get the same assistance as what the citizenry have long been provided by the organization, specifically medical missions and relief works that call them to extend public service each time a calamity hits the country. He called on his men to secure their families first before giving quality public service.

This social event was mainly catered to PNP dependents across different age groups, fostering camaraderie among personnel and their dependents while strengthening support networks and enhancing the well-being of PNP personnel and their families. With a total of 1,500 participants, including 800 PNP dependents from the offices of the PNP Directorial Staff and National Support Unit Crame-based offices, the event was a resounding success.

Various government agencies were invited to participate in the program offering services such as processing and renewal of driver’s licenses, PhilSys Registration, voter’s registration, registration for livelihood and skills enhancement training, and many more. The participating agencies that significantly contributed in the success of the event included the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Land Transportation Office (LTO), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Commission on Elections (COMELEC), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and the Quezon City Public Employment Service Office (PESO).

According to Chief PNP Marbil, “The ‘Pamilya ng Pulis, Family Day’ is a testament to our commitment to uplift the well-being of our personnel and their loved ones. Kung happy po ang pamilya natin, happy din ang serbisyo natin.” This program is part of the PNP’s broader efforts to support and uplift the families of its personnel, recognizing the crucial role that family support plays in the overall effectiveness and morale of the police force.

The event won’t end just that without giving the PNP personnel and their dependents something to cherish and enjoy. Painted on their faces were nothing but details brought by the featured games and other exciting activities prepared for them to make the family experience more festive.
