The Power of Choice and Chance: Making a Difference in Service to People

In this fast-paced, often challenging world, opportunities to make a meaningful impact may seem fleeting or out of reach. Yet, at the heart of our daily lives lies a profound truth: each and every individual holds the power to choose good and make a difference. This was emphasized by the Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Police General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, in the Monday Flag Raising Ceremony, which was his first as head of the police force, held on April 8, 2024 at Camp BGen Rafael T Crame, Quezon City.

In his message that very morning, PGen Marbil underscored the significance of daily choices and opportunities bestowed upon us. “Sa paggising natin sa umaga, binibigyan tayo ng dalawang regalo ng ating Panginoon – Choice and Chance. Choice to do good, and a Chance to make a difference,” urging the police force to uphold their duties with integrity and dedication.

The PNP Top Cop encouraged all officers to aim for a lasting impact in their communities, stating, “Dito sa bagong pamumuno ng ating kapulisan, let us make a big difference in people’s lives. Yun lang po ang gusto ko. Let us give them the best service. Binabayaran po natin ang pulis natin for public service. Ibigay po natin ang tama. Kung ano po ang tama, ito ang susundin natin. Let us not go astray. Yun lang po ang pinaka-importante.”

The Chief PNP’s vision aligns seamlessly with the overarching goal of fostering a safer and more secure nation. He underscored the crucial role of the police force in ensuring community well-being, highlighting the importance of trust and security. “Isipin nyo ang trabaho po natin. Let us give our community the best public service. Let us make them safe sa pagtulog nila at paglabas nila. Ang sabi ko nga, sa Bagong Pilipinas, ang gusto ng Pulis, Ligtas ka!” he affirmed.

Police General Marbil’s message resonated deeply within the ranks of PNP, inspiring police officers to continue serving with excellence and making a positive impact in the communities they serve. The ceremony concluded with a renewed sense of purpose among the police force, united under the banner of providing the best public service and ensuring the safety and security of every Filipino.

In the words of Mahatma Gandhi, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Embrace the power of choice, seize the chance to make a difference and watch as your actions inspire others and create lasting, positive change.

As PNP moves forward under PGen Marbil’s leadership, the emphasis on choice and chance will undoubtedly guide the organization in fulfilling its mission with integrity and commitment. This renewed dedication promises a brighter, safer future towards a Bagong Pilipinas!
