Two Arrested in San Carlos City for Illegal Firearms and Php2.33 million Worth of Shabu

On August 31, 2024, at around 4:10 p.m., police operatives from the San Carlos Component City Police Station had apprehended two suspects for illegal possession of firearms. Also seized from them were 343 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated value of Php2,332,000. The operation took place in Barangay Guadalupe, San Carlos City in Negros Occidental.


The arrested individuals were identified as alias Ronilo, 29, a construction worker from Barangay Tigbon, Calatrava, and alias Hutch, 37, from Barangay Vito, Sagay City, both in Negros Occidental. During the arrest, police had recovered two caliber .45 pistols; two caliber .45 magazines; ten live caliber .45 cartridges, and illegal drugs.


Brigadier General Jack L. Wanky, Director of Police Regional Office 6, was all praises to the San Carlos City Component Police Station personnel for their vigilance and swift response. β€œThis operation highlights the exceptional alertness and commitment of our police force in San Carlos City. The successful arrest of these individuals has effectively disrupted their criminal activities and safeguarded potential victims,” General Wanky remarked.


In his statement, General Wanky also called on police personnel throughout the region to remain vigilant and proactive during their patrols in order to identify and address potential lawless activities. He encouraged the community to report any suspicious activity to their nearest police units.


The suspects are currently in police custody and will face charges under Republic Act (RA) 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and RA 10591, the Comprehensive Firearm and Ammunition Regulation Act.
