PRO CAR Seized Over Php10-M Worth of Marijuana in Benguet

The Philippine National Police (PNP), through the Police Regional Office Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO-CAR), strongly supports President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr.’s call for Bagong Pilipinas brand of governance and the Whole-of-Nation approach by intensifying its anti-illegal drug campaigns while protecting lives and upholding human dignity in the country. Relevantly, Cordilleran cops made a decisive strike in Benguet where they confiscated more than Php10 Million worth of marijuana leaves.

On October 6, 2025, while the operatives of Kibungan Municipal Police Station were manning a checkpoint in Barangay Poblacion, Kibungan, a white Mitsubishi Strada pick-up stopped about 100 meters away, prompting suspicion among police officers to approach the vehicle. Two men reportedly got out of the vehicle and fled to Kapangan, Benguet, leaving the driver’s side door open.

When authorities checked the vehicle, they discovered 42 tubular forms and four sacks of dried marijuana leaves at the backseat weighing a total of 86 kilograms and an estimated Standard Drug Price of Php10,320,000.00.

As of this writing, personnel of Kibungan MPS are conducting a follow-up investigation and hot pursuit operation to identify and arrest the suspects. Also, said vehicle was already impounded by the police.

Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez, Jr., Acting PNP Chief, sends a clear statement to the public, underscoring the strong stance of the Nation’s Peacekeeper in the fight against illegal drugs throughout the country.

“This operation is more than just a seizure—it is a strong declaration that PNP will not tolerate illegal drug activities. We are committed to tracking down and dismantling every drug network. Let this be a warning to all: the law reaches every corner of Benguet, the Cordillera, and beyond. We will act decisively to protect our communities and ensure the safety of every Filipino,” said PLtGen Nartatez.

The successful operation is a testament of PRO CAR’s firm commitment to dismantle any illegal drug activity in the region. It also reflects the relentless efforts of PNP to uphold the rule of law, paving no way for law breakers to disrupt the order in communities nationwide.

Through enhanced enforcement capabilities, community-oriented engagements and strong partnerships, the police force continues to sustain its campaign to create a safer, more peaceful, and drug-free Bagong Pilipinas.
