As the Northern Mindanao once again exercises its democratic right to vote, the Police Regional Office 10 (PRO 10) has stood in the frontlines — not just as law enforcers, but as peacekeepers and public servants committed to protecting the sanctity of the ballot.
In the lead-up to the recent elections, a total of 3,067 trained personnel from PRO 10 were augmented to serve in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE). Unlike their usual roles in maintaining peace and order, 400 of them were assigned in a different but equally important task: to serve as Special Electoral Board members. It was not an easy mission, as these officers left their families and entered areas with security concerns, committed to upholding democracy as neutral poll workers. Their presence was vital in ensuring a successful electoral process, ensuring that even in hard-to-reach and high-risk areas across BAR, voices of the people are heard.

Police Brigadier General Jaysen C. De Guzman, Regional Director of PRO 10, reiterated the importance of the Special Electoral Board in maintaining peace and order during the election process. “Your role as Special Electoral Board is important in upholding the democratic rights of our citizens. As you serve in the Bangsamoro region, remember that your action will reflect our commitment to free, fair, and peaceful elections. Let your loyalty lies only with the Constitution and the Filipino people” he said.

Meanwhile, beyond their official duties, other members of PRO 10 who remained in the region also engaged in community service activities throughout the election period. In remote barangays, where access is limited, police officers assisted elderly voters, provided drinking water or refreshments queuing to cast their votes, and helped transport persons with disabilities (PWDs) to and from polling precincts.

In areas flagged as election hotspots, the police officers’ presence was more than preventive — it was calming. Fear turned into assurance. Doubt was met with readiness. Violence, which many feared, was replaced with vigilance and smooth cooperation.
Beyond the badges that every PRO 10 personnel wore and the challenges they overcome, they have shown us something simple yet powerful. When police officers serve with genuine heart and care, they can do more other than to serve and protect — they inspire hope. They remind us all that even in difficult times, kindness and courage can light the way forward. It is this spirit of service that gives communities the strength to believe in a better tomorrow, where every voice is heard, every life is valued, and every vote counts.
