The Philippine National Police (PNP) held its annual New Year’s Call at the PNP Multi-Purpose Center, Camp BGen Rafael T. Crame, in Quezon City on January 7, 2025. The event was a gathering of key PNP officials, including the Command Group, the Directorial Staff, the Directors of National Support Units (NSUs) and the Police Regional Offices (PROs). Serving as a ceremonial gathering at the beginning of a calendar, officers reaffirm their dedication to their duties and express their respect and loyalty to higher-ranking officials, especially to the PNP Chief.
Police General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, Chief PNP, had commended the dedication and hard work demonstrated by PNP personnel over the past year. He highlighted the organization’s achievements in reducing the crime rate and in fostering public trust, emphasizing that successes were made possible through the collective efforts of every police officer.
General Marbil had underscored the importance of integrity and neutrality as the PNP prepares for the upcoming National and Local Elections on May 2025. He reminded all personnel of their responsibility to serve as guardians of peace and order, ensuring the public’s confidence in law enforcers.
The Chief PNP had also called on Regional Directors and Unit Commanders to prioritize the welfare of their personnel, emphasizing the importance of providing adequate support and resources to officers to enable them to perform their duties effectively. Furthermore, he urged all officers to remain proactive in addressing the evolving challenges of law enforcement, such as in cybercrime, terrorism, and in the fight against illegal drugs.
Beyond its ceremonial aspects, the New Year’s Call fosters unity within the police force. It brings together officers and provides a platform for interaction and mutual respect. This tradition reminds every PNP member that they are part of a larger family united by a common goal: To serve and protect the Filipino people.
The New Year’s Call remains a reminder of the values that define the organization. A celebration of unity, it also is a reaffirmation of loyalty and commitment to the noble calling of public service. Through this tradition, PNP honors its past achievements and strengthens its resolve to face the new year with integrity and purpose towards a Bagong Pilipinas.
