“PNPA @47: Moving Forward to Sustain Academic Excellence for Future Public Servants”

On July 2, 2025, the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) commemorated its 47th Foundation Day, with a simple yet meaningful program that paid tribute to its history while reaffirming its commitment to academic excellence and public service.

This year’s celebration marked a historical milestone to the Academy as it welcomed its first-ever alumnus to hold the highest post in the Philippine National Police (PNP), Police General Nicolas D. Torre III, the first Lakan PNP Chief and a proud member of the PNPA Tagapaglunsad Class of 1993,  who graced the event as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. He was accompanied by the Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Catibayan Remulla, together with Police Major General Christopher C. Birung, PNPA Director, and other senior government officials.

The celebration highlighted the PNPA’s enduring mission: to produce principled and competent officers who are committed to safeguard the nation. It also provided an opportunity to recognize the Academy’s outstanding alumni and dedicated personnel who diligently fulfill their respective duties and responsibilities, reflecting the institution’s tradition of excellence and honor.

Among the awardees who received the PNPA Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo Excellence Award were: Police Major General Mark D. Pespes, Director of the PNP Special Action Force (PNP-SAF); Police Major General Anthony A. Aberin, Director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO); Police Brigadier General Jean S. Fajardo, Director of the Directorate for Comptrollership (DC); Police Brigadier General Paul Kenneth T. Lucas, Regional Director of the Police Regional Office 4A (PRO 4A); Police Brigadier General Roel C. Rodolfo, Regional Director of the Police Regional Office 9 (PRO 9); Police Brigadier Lou F. Evangelista, Deputy Director of the Directorate for Logistics (DL); Police Brigadier General David K. Peredo Jr., Regional Director of the Police Regional Office Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO-CAR); and Police Brigadier General Andre P. Dizon, Regional Director of the Police Regional Office 5 (PRO 5), and others.

In his address, PGen Torre emphasized the vital role of PNPA in molding future public safety officers who will uphold the highest standards of service, discipline, and patriotism.

A solemn wreath-laying ceremony was also offered at the PNPA Kalasag Memorial in Camp Gen. Mariano N. Castañeda, Silang, Cavite, to honor fallen alumni, symbolizing the institution’s enduring respect and remembrance for its heroes.

With the theme “PNPA @47: Moving Forward to Sustain Academic Excellence for Future Public Servants,” the event served as a powerful reminder of PNPA’s continuing role in holistically shaping capable and trustworthy public safety officers— ready to serve God, country, and the Filipino people with integrity and honor.
