The Philippine National Police (PNP) celebrated the 32nd PNP Ethics Day during the first Monday Flag Raising Ceremony of the year on January 5, 2026, at Camp BGen Rafael T Crame in Quezon City. The ceremony, led by Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Acting PNP Chief, highlighted the organization’s continuing commitment to ethical policing and public service.

With the theme “Integridad at Disiplina, Pundasyon ng Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman, Tungo sa Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas,” the event emphasized integrity and discipline as the foundation of a responsive, honest, and people-centered police service aligned with the vision of a Bagong Pilipinas.
In his address, PLtGen Nartatez extended his New Year greetings to all PNP personnel and emphasized that the start of 2026 brings renewed purpose and responsibility for every police officer. He commended the men and women of the police force, including augmentation units and partner advocacy groups, for their tireless service during the recent holiday season.

He noted that the strategic deployment of police personnel in high-traffic areas, transport hubs, and community centers helped maintain peace and order and provided reassurance to families, travelers, and communities across the country. Due to the vigilance and discipline of PNP personnel and the cooperation of the public, New Year celebrations nationwide were generally peaceful and orderly.
PLtGen Nartatez also expressed his appreciation to the Filipino people for adhering to safety reminders, noting that the celebrations proceeded smoothly and without major disruptions, despite the limited number of reported firecracker-related injuries.

“Ang selebrasyon ay naging maayos at mapayapa; ito ay patunay na kapag ang pulis at mamamayan ay nagtutulungan, nagiging mas ligtas ang ating komunidad,” he said.
Looking ahead, the Acting PNP Chief announced that the organization’s immediate operational focus will shift to the Feast of the Black Nazarene, or Traslacion, one of the country’s largest religious gatherings. He acknowledged the complex security environment of the event, which draws millions of devotees, and underscored the importance of careful planning and full coordination to ensure public safety.
He assured the public that there will be no letup in security preparations, stressing that the PNP will remain proactive, alert, and ready to protect lives, respect religious faith, and ensure the orderly conduct of the annual event.

Meanwhile, the Ethics Day celebration also served as an opportunity to recognize outstanding police personnel whose exemplary conduct embodied the core values of the organization. During the ceremony, PLtGen Nartatez, together with the PNP Command Group, conferred the Medalya ng Pagkilala to the Top 10 PNP Personnel with Good Deeds. The awardees were Police Lieutenant Colonel Reynaldo V. Gabudao (PRO BAR), Police Captain Julius Ceasar T. Calumina (PNP Special Action Force), Police Senior Master Sergeant Gene Rose F. Aguillon (PRO 3), Police Staff Sergeant Roy C. Asis (PRO CARAGA), Police Staff Sergeant William H. Duca (PRO 2), Police Staff Sergeant Rey C. Reuyan (PRO 10), Police Staff Sergeant Junrey B. Terana (PRO 7), Police Corporal Feb Daryl F. Cañete (PRO CALABARZON), Patrolman Lhar T. Talaga (AVESEGROUP), and Patrolman Jemuel G. Sawan (PRO 12).

As PNP continues its organizational transformation, PNP Ethics Day reinforced the message to every police officer that public trust begins with individual responsibility and collective adherence to what is right, just, and lawful. It serves as a reminder that ethics are reflected in their daily actions, decisions, and interactions with the public.
Ultimately, PNP reaffirmed that integrity and discipline are not merely ideals but enduring responsibilities that define how police officers exercise authority, uphold accountability, and maintain the trust of the Filipino people.
