PNP Nabs High-Value Drug Suspect, Seizes Php13.6 Million Worth of Shabu in Cebu

The Philippine National Police (PNP) recorded another significant accomplishment in its intensified campaign against illegal drugs following the arrest of a high-value individual (HVI) during a late-night anti-drug operation on April 6, 2026, in Mandaue City.

Acting on intelligence information, operatives from the City Drug Enforcement Unit and City Intelligence Unit, in close coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, conducted a buy-bust operation that led to the successful apprehension of a 24-year-old Filipino male suspected of involvement in the illegal drug trade.

During the operation, authorities confiscated approximately two kilograms of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of Php13.6 Million. Also recovered from the suspect were the marked buy-bust money, additional cash, a mobile phone, and a backpack believed to have been used to conceal and transport the illegal drugs.

As of this writing, the suspect is now under police custody while authorities prepare charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The confiscated substances have been turned over to the Regional Forensic Unit for laboratory examination and proper documentation.

The successful operation forms part of the PNP’s intensified and intelligence-driven campaign against illegal drugs, aligned with the organization’s Focused Agenda, particularly under the Enhanced Managing Police Operations. Through strengthened coordination with partner agencies and sustained law enforcement efforts, PNP continues to intensify its drive to dismantle drug networks and curb the proliferation of illegal substances nationwide.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. commended the operating units for their swift and coordinated action, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and relentless enforcement in the ongoing fight against illegal drugs.

“Magandang halimbawa ito ng maayos at matibay na operasyon laban sa ilegal na droga. Hindi tayo titigil. Tuloy-tuloy ang ating kampanya para masigurong ligtas ang ating mga komunidad,” the PNP Chief said.

“This accomplishment shows that through teamwork and sustained operations, we can significantly disrupt the flow of illegal drugs. Our message is clear—there is no place for drug offenders in our communities,” he added.

Anchored on the vision of Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman, PNP assures the public that its anti-illegal drug campaign will remain relentless, with respect for human rights, and focused on protecting the welfare and security of every Filipino.
