5-Minute 911 Response Nabs Theft Suspects in Mandaue City


The “5-minute response time” policy of the Philippine National Police (PNP) continuously receive positive public sentiments as various successful police operations have been recorded nationwide. The policy underscores the PNP’s strong commitment to proactive policing, ensuring that the public can rely on the nation’s peacekeepers for immediate assistance while reassuring them of the latter’s swift response – leaving no call for help unattended.

Steadfast in demonstrating readiness and delivering timely public safety services, the Police Regional Office 7 (PRO7) proudly highlights a successful operation made possible through the swift coordination of the Central Visayas police force in addressing emergencies and protecting the community.

At around 2:40 PM on August 4, 2025, a concerned resident of Barangay Banilad, Mandaue City reported a theft incident through a 911 call, which was promptly acted upon by police officers within five minutes. Responding units from the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) – Police Station 4, the Tactical Motorcycle Riding Unit (TMRU), Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), and personnel from Station 2 immediately rushed to the scene after receiving the report.

Upon arrival, police caught two individuals in the act of stealing items inside a warehouse. They were identified as alias “Alvin”, 32, and alias “Ligaya”, 50, both residents of Barangay Cambaro, Mandaue City. Authorities recovered scrap iron, plastics, and electric wires, which were believed to have been stolen by the suspects.

The arrested individuals were brought to Police Station 4 for proper disposition, and are now detained pending the filing of appropriate charges in court, as of this writing.

Police Brigadier General Redrico A. Maranan, Regional Director of PRO7, emphasized the importance of using the 911 hotline in times of crime, accidents, or other emergencies. He commended the resident’s vigilance and police officers’ immediate response, reassuring the public that the police force in Central Visayas remains on call to respond promptly to any urgent situation.

The accomplishment highlights the importance of strong partnership and cooperation between PNP and the community. More than just a time-bound policy, the “5-minute response time” initiative reflects the PNP’s mission to serve and protect with urgency, discipline, and accountability.
